  1. Also, did a DR measurement - the 2006 Wood album is listed as an 8 & the Harrison Crabfeathers track I measured at 7. So fairly hot & you can see that in the traces. The revamped version care of Chris A's preset measured at 12. (& again that is therein the traces & accounts for the drop in gain above). That aspect is certainly a significant change for the better.
  2. Keep these coming! I'll get some of them. Re Harrison Crabfeathers - got it sorted - thanks! - & did an A/B comparison a few hours back. Audirvana - macmini - mytek dac. My Elacs go down to 27Hz (I'll try the stereo subs later on, which go another 10 down). Amp easily deals with it all - goes to 50 W class A (200 W rms)/ 400k microfarads energy storage). Dunno, ... the extra bottom end is hugely apparent - dramatic at start & then at ~40 secs & then a minute later ~1.40. Just not sure I get that same smooth thru gritty rasp of the strings in the lower mids - presence. Tricky because 1. my room modes! & 2. original is a definite notch up in gain, as the traces show. Questions on this track etc - are we 'recovering' info that's in the file or can you add bass wherever, whenever in Audacity? I will re-read earlier discussion. - does adding this in effect the harmonics further up thru the mid-high frequencies? - what is the lowest freq now available? My speakers won't get there of course. Loving the experiment & will keep at it.
  3. Hi Chris A, #1 post here! "Once you've determined that your track has a missing bass octave, select Effects --> Equalize... then notice a curve pops up. Here is where you will open one of the example bass boost xml files that you found above in this thread, by clicking on the "Save/Manage Curves" button at the middle-bottom of the curve window. Import that xml file by hitting the "import" button and searching for the sml file that you've saved locally on hard disc. You should see the curve appear when you select if from the list. Hit "ok" to close the curve management window, then "ok" again to close and execute the Equalize... filter. You will see the traces change shape - perhaps even turn red, etc." Keen to explore this & started with Bromberg 'crabtree', given I was already impressed with the bottom end. But, ran into an issue at the "Save/Manage" stage of importing your xml file. Using a mac & just can't locate the sml file ...?
