  1. It has nothing to do with connotation. The two technical terms "addiction" and "dependant" should not be used interchangeably.

I will use them in sentences if it helps to clarify.

My dog has become so dependant on me that she could not fend for herself in the wild, she would probably die without me.

My dog is addicted to dog biscuits, she can't get enough of them. But if she stops recieving dog biscuits she will not start shaking and feel like puking.

i would say it a little diifrently----(tho i understand your point)

i am dependent on opiods, and will become physically sick (withdrawal) without out them. that's all. depemndence can lead to illness without the meds,.bummer, but not hurting anyone but me.

Joe blow is addicted to opiods, and will very likely be tempted to lie, cheat, steal,  and do anything in his power to get more of them. addiction leads to behavior problems. addicts can be driven tyo crimes.

i had a nationly reconized pain MD at UCLA explain this carefully to me 5 years ago. hes no dummy.LOL!!!!!!!!!

  2. Does tyhe national institute on drug abuse know what they arwe talking about, or just regular joes who are suddenly experts on opiates???

    http://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/teaching-packets/neurobiology-drug-addiction/section-iii-action-heroin-morphine/10-addiction-vs-dependence

    pasted text

As you have just explained, different parts of the brain are responsible for the addiction and dependence to heroin and opiates. Review the areas in the brain underlying the addiction to morphine (reward pathway) and those underlying the dependence to morphine (thalamus and brainstem). Thus, it is possible to be dependent on morphine, without being addicted to morphine. (Although, if one is addicted, they are most likely dependent as well.) This is especially true for people being treated chronically with morphine, for example, pain associated with terminal cancer. They may be dependent - if the drug is stopped, they suffer a withdrawal syndrome. But, they are not compulsive users of the morphine, and they are not addicted. Finally, people treated with morphine in the hospital for pain control after surgery are unlikely to become addicted; although they may feel some of the euphoria, the analgesic and sedating effects predominate. There is no compulsive use and the prescribed use is short-lived.

read this if you think you are an opiod expert on addiction....explanations are very clear.

I go with actual medicAL EXPERTS and doctors OVER regular joes who like to call people pill poppers!!!!!!!!!! LOL

have fun wityh it tho....we all experts!

  3. I take a total of 45mg of OxyContin a day. I'm approaching the end of my second month. I'm not noticing any tolerance issues yet,

fyi...i have taken 45mg/day for 5 years wit absolutly no changes......no issues....works grate!!

  4. chronic pain causes:

    -depression

    -productivity loss

    -family problems

    -personality problems...

-eating problems and other related health problems

proper pain therapy creates a day and nite improvement in ones life

Yeah, those are the people to demoonize with Narco Contracts and drug testying and monitoring! they are the EPIDEMIC of danger!!!!!

Boozehounds? who cares! let em go kill people on the road or with guns or with their fists...who cares....no probnlem....!!! LOL - govemwent knows best!!!

  5. NSAIDS are worst pain relievers. Kill your liver, kill your kidney with nsaids. Oxycontin far far easier on internal organs. If you have long term pain Nsaids are dumbest way to handle it, but people cop a superior attitude by saying, I don't take narcotics! But kill they organsorgans with nsaids!!! Lol

Government try to reduce nsaids???? Nope!!! Chew away folks!!

Learn to spot bullshit. War on opiate is part of war on passivity causing drugs. All of them. Eg. Ecstacy. Aggression drugs are fine like booze. Feds live alcohol!!! Love aggression!

  6. Compare effects of alcohol to opiates. Then wonder how government can declare war on opiates!!

Alcohol and cigarettes are the most destructive chemicals in commerce... Thousands and thousands of lives lost and destroyed... Billions an billions of wasted dollars on excess health care caused by alcohol and ciugs....but "opiates are epidemic" lol!!!! Alcohol is encouraged by billions in ads!!!! Let's destroy each other... It's fun!!!! And sexy!!! Feds have no problem with Budweiser Bullshit!!! Kill each other in cars!!!

Can you spot the game???? Lol. The government BS??????

  7. Please do the research people.. Addiction is about behavior... Dependence is about biology. Addictive behavior causes crime, abuse, lying, stealing, and other destructive acts. Dependence cause withdrawal symptoms and discomfort. Not heard to understand difference!! Lol...

Addiction is a personality disorder, and those people can get addicted to many different things... To get more they will engage in destructive behaviors.

People suffer withdrawal and do NOT COMMIT CRIMES!! so hard to understand???? Opiates can easily cause biologic dependence.... That's not aCRIME!!!! that's biology! People with cryonic pain are tired of being criminalized!!

Good doctors know that the feds are interfering where they don't belong. Idiot doctors follow authority like robots because they fear for their MONEY stream being interrupted!!!

  8. now that guverment makes opiates almost impossible...doctors are pushing patients onto......CYMBALTA!! anti-drepression drug! Geee, wonder why? Hmmmm? why wopuld that be???

Cymablta---more expense AND is highly addictive! soooey-cide anyone???

paste: Abusing Cymbalta can result in the classic cycle of addiction including depression, anxiety, abstinence, increased use or substance abuse. The cycle can last years before some type of intervention stops the prescription pill addiction.

all that without releiving pain! BUT, of course, goverment knows best!!! LOL

Or, they wanty you on Gabapentin!! a nice suicide med!! Ever take 900mg of gabapentin as recommended in place of opiates???? tell you this....don't try driving a car!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!

opiates are easy on liver and kidney - not like NSAIDS....cause no sooy-cide thoughts. they are cheap. THEY WORK FOR PAIN!!!!!! but no, lwet's put everyone on psychotropics instead!!!!!!!!!!!

lets get the presss to tell everyone that oxycontin drug addicts are an epidemic threatening the world!!!!!!! whose going to bother looking into the facts? no one! LOL

  9. NEVERMIND, I could continue but unless you have chronic pain, you just won't understand.

    YES!!

this is the problem. people with no cronic disease are always dictating policies for sick people. makes me sick. walk a mile in the shoes of people with chronic pain before pretending to be such experts on pain killer!! lol.

opiates make pain tolerable, and make life liveable for people with many painfilled diseases. don't confuse that with what criminals are doing with opiates.

know what? it's just like the gun argum, ent.  criminals misuse guns too,. but we dopn't make guns illegal!! lol....criminals should not be the force behind laws!

clue: examine all the drugs that the govementr wants to regulate the most. Compare them to alcohol...the preferred govement drug...see what you can determine!! lol...see what ways the regulated drugs differ!! there's your clue to what is happening.LOL!!!!!!!!!!

  10.

Addiction and dependence are two very diffrent conditions friend s. Not many people get so-called addicted to opiates. Get up to date on the medical issues b4 jumping to conclusions... Lol!! Press says everyone is addicted... This is false. Dependence is not same as addiction...

You need to realize these terms overlap in the real world.  It is all on the same slippery slope, just at a different point on the line.  I don't think public opinion should drive government regulation.  It should be left to health professionals to give monitor the drugs.

no, not a slippery slope. Consult a doctor to explain diffrence betwween addiction and dependence. These are NOT items on a slippery slop!! addiction is a behavior and has nothing to do wqith drug dependence.

  11. Addiction and dependence are two very diffrent conditions friend s. Not many people get so-called addicted to opiates. Get up to date on the medical issues b4 jumping to conclusions... Lol!! Press says everyone is addicted... This is false. Dependence is not same as addiction...

  12. Sounds like most would have people suffer chronic pain regardless of how chronic pain can destroy people, just to keep them off "drugs". What BS. I have no words for people that enjoy having people suffer from medical conditions just to preserve your precious War on Drugs. Those that believe that would support any type of tyranny to harm people to justify their moral beliefs.

I have an incurable disease and take opiates, daily. Those that would rather me suffer and die just to continue the government's war on drugs can kiss my ***. Your taxpayer money would be supporting me instead of me supporting myself if I had no pain relief in order to keep working. I am lucky in that I can't take much opiates without huge waves of nausea, so all I can take is just enough to dull the pain somewhat. I have a hard time understanding the cruelty of those that would deny pain relief to those that are suffering. How inhuman that is.

I take injections ever week that affect me a whole lot worse than opiates do. I end up with wasted days due to pain. I can't take enough opiates to kill the pain since I would be zonked out and still couldn't function well. Cannabis would help immensely, but it is illegal in Arkansas.

I really, really get upset with all the self-righteous people that think they should be running other peoples lives for them. Talk about Bullshit!

This post may get me banned, but try to have a little compassion for those that NEED pain relief. I watched my mother die a very slow death and thinking that she must be exaggerating her pain levels since her illness wasn't externally visible for a couple of decades. With an inherited disease, I now know she wasn't and I was not compassionate enough to help her through those times.

This is not aimed at anyone in particular, but at society at large. I can get off my soapbox now.

Bravo!!! Lol much better said then what I could say!!!!

  13. Conspiracy??? Lol!! Adding conspiracy word to make actions seem absurd and outlandish is old news. The opiate regulations are form the government.... Not a conspracy, just a drive to elimenate opiate and replace with psychotropics and alchohol. Not because of medical value, but because of criminals. People with chronic pain and chronic disease are not criminals, but now they LOOK like crimnals. People who don't have chronic illness are always clueless about this. Legit doctors had no problem managing legit patients on opiates... Don't believe every word of government propaganda.

Alcohol is the drug of choice for government... Why? Why would the worst of all drugs be the chosen winner??? Lol. Aggression!!! Aggression is good!!!! Lol. .just compare to other drugs?!! Oh, and also psychotropics!!! No restrictions there!!!! Lol...

  14. Government is driving a war on opiate. They drive all the media to hype the ridicules story that everyone is addicted.

Truth...People who are in chronic pain do well on opiates. But people who no nothing about chronic disease invent these crusades against opiates. Opiates work. They allow people in chronic pain to function, to work, to live normally.

Government is deciding a huge stigmas for all opiate users trying to drive people off opiates into psychotropic drugs like Cymbalta, and Gabapentin, which cause such effects as suicide!!!! Lol.. Doctors must now put all opiate patients on Narcotic Contracts!!! Includes urging testing and dozens of restrictions. This for actual pain suffers who are now criminalized by they re doctor!!! That's by government rules, not doctor rules. Government is taking over all decisions out of doctor hand. Government says if you have pain you are a addict and must be branded as addict!!!! Doctors hate this intrusion. But must follow or lose license. Yes, there are drug addicts using opiate, but those are criminals not sick people on pain! Government don't care, all opiate users are addicts!!!! This is only the beginning... Doctors will be at complete mercy of government very soon. Withholding medicare payments is the big tool.

  15. Get more men on streets w/guns and keep eyes on those "beards" lol!!! We all no whois enemy... Look time to toughen up... Cut the bshiy.. Of tolerating when they hate freedom ¡!!! Just get it done!!lol

  16. I think Coytee deserves a vasectomy for bumping this thread.

A person on a treadmill doesn't move forward relative to the tread and therefore doesn't feel air movement across their face. They run in a fixed place. Their mode of propulsion is directly linked to the tread.

I completely understand your argument, long before you ever considered writing this reply.

It's wrong. Again, Turbine, Prop, Squirrel, Hamster, it doesn't matter. Watch your own youtube video, what happens with the plans speed matches perfectly the speed of the treadmill...... No Forward Movement.

Might I suggest a stiff drink and grilled steaks and lamb chops?  That's what I'm gonna be grilling right after this.

When a person runs on a stationary treadmill, does that person feel the air blowing on their face?  I don't think so, but then again, I've never run on a treadmill.

Correct.  Now, however, add a jet-pack to your back and give it some thrust.  Then, what happens?

Jeff, As a kid, did you ever try running up a downward moving escalator. I have, and I made it to the top without a jet pack. What's your point?

In both to the two lameass examples (youtube and nutbusters), they each demonstrated that neither of them considered the concept of relative (differential) acceleration. I expected as much from the numbnuts in the youtube video, but expected an approach that could have at least been considered scientific (oh my god, I sound like MD, I'm fk'ed). Instead, the nutbuster duo gave us small pickup truck dragging an extraordinarily long burlap sack across the pavement..... Did anyone in here consider the mythbusters' conveyor ideal or even remotely similar to the magical speed matching conveyor in the problem?.... didn't think so, I didn't either.

Forces for flying= thrust, lift, drag. Period. None of those relate to the belt/wheels. The only force produced by belt/wheel is FRICTION. That is a small force pointing to the rear of the plane. The thrust is massive force with à net vector pointing forward and easily overwhelms the small friction force.

Those are the main force components that everybody will agree on. The only component of "drag" I'm concerned with is that resulting from the weight of the plane and the coef. of friction acting on each wheel (bearing and contact patch). Those force components keep the plane on the ground when stationary, the magical conveyor prevents the craft from obtaining a forward "ground speed", relative to fixed earth (yes I know the world rotates, but lets keep it simple).

Even a person that has never done the analysis, can watch the bozo in the youtube video. Bozo clearly demonstrates that his model plane will ALWAYS moves backwards when he fails to maintain adequate thrust. It happens so many times, that it should have screamed out at me (and all of you) during the first viewing. The ONLY time his plane moves forward is when he out accelerates (applies too much thrust) the speed of the treadmill (and forces due to drag). That he failed to mention or even consider the relative accelerations, means he should be neutered and prevented from entering his candidacy for the Nobel Prize for Science.

Ground speed does not matter,... Only airspeed. The planes flight is relative always to air, not to ground. Thrust force is opposition to air not ground. Other than small friction force, ground and belt are irrelevant to the airspeed.

Air mass is independent of ground mass. Plane is operating against airmass. Plane is not motivated by its wheels. They only support the weight until lift overcomes weight. Fisics is fun lol!!!

Since thrust>friction by many times, plane accelerates forward and then flies.

Force diagram shows all you need.
