Okay, this was my home for a long time ... there are plenty of sunny and warm days, and there can be others, unless you get sick & die.

Stay home folks ... let’s get this over with and then we can get back to our normal routine.

Crowds of beachgoers and surfers flocked to the Huntington Beach coast over the weekend as hot weather descended over the region. While officials urged people to adhere to social distancing measures, local news and various photos shared online indicated that many were less than six feet apart and not wearing face masks or coverings.

Newport Beach lifeguards estimated that roughly 40,000 people arrived on Friday to enjoy the sun. "It's crowded out," Newport Beach lifeguard battalion chief Brian O'Rourke told NBC News, adding that lifeguards haven't encouraged many issues with social distancing as they've been primarily focused on watching the water. "We've had dozens of ocean rescues and hundreds of preventative actions," he said.

Beaches remain closed and empty in Los Angeles County and local officials have requested their citizens refrain from driving to other counties with eased stay-at-home restrictions for sunbathing and beach time.

What was ultimately sad was the fact that as you got to about 100 yards of the water, The fog was so thick it dropped the temps about 20 degrees. And you couldn't see 100 feet. So at least it was cooler near the water!

The mask thing drives me nuts. My blood pressure goes through the ceiling just thinking about it.

The only thing we know for sure is that we don't know anything. So why not be cautious? I'm all for the masks still. And as i pointed to before this, we are not appearing to be all be out of the woods yet.

  3. WA State's daily covid bar charts show a missing report from the last day, according to the local paper. The 'experts' say we don't have adequate testing still. AND YET... the number of cases has increased on average over the last 6 days. Not a hugely significant movement, but it was on an average decline for almost 15 days before that. Things were looking good. Maybe it's a blip. I hope so. I don't think it can be 100% pertaining to testing as I haven't heard of a ramp up in the state.

  4. Are you using the same browser? I have a mac and a pc with different browsers and some web sites and links appear differently on them. I remember the old Netscape and the newer browsers of that period looking totally different from each other. I know Netscape has virtually disappeared now... just an example.

My son and I are indoctrinating his beautiful daughter into Rush via the rock lullabies. Another generation of Rush Fans. I'm truly dismayed that she and we will not see them again. I've got a ton of files of it from variou artist's works. It's great stuff!  I listen to it occasionally myself

There's that but even so you would think if you can not breathe you should take the mask off for a minute,  and why do you need it in the car when your alone, besides paranoia ?

True... definitely not in the car for me. And I do try to get a 'clean ' breath evry now and then even if it means moving away from the crowd. I don't have an answer why anyone would wear it in the car unles you were ubering.

And you can't fix stupid, this from NJ, what a surprise.

A New Jersey woman who crashed her car into a power pole may have passed out after wearing an N95 coronavirus mask behind the wheel for several hours, police said.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with a complaint of pain after Thursday’s accident on a two-lane road, the Lincoln Park Police Department said.

“The crash is believed to have resulted from the driver wearing an N95 mask for several hours and subsequently passing out behind the wheel due to insufficient oxygen intake/excessive carbon dioxide intake,” the department said on Facebook Friday.

The department offered further explanation in a subsequent post, noting the "overwhelming response" to its original statement.

Police added, “We also know that nothing was uncovered at the accident scene that would suggest that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. All this being said, It is certainly possible that some other medical reason could've contributed to the driver passing out.”

I'm not surprised. If I don't eat an Altoid before donning my mask, I will almost pass out from my own breath! I brush, floss. Stinkbreath!

Freedom of the press does not preclude partisan press, nor should it.  Newspapers have historically been partisan.  I have no problem with media outlets advancing a specific agenda.  I have the right and the ability to sift through the news to embrace what I value and reject the rest.   I value science and reject opinions not grounded in science.

The right and ability. That's what I find disheartening. Some won't read reports from the other side. It's all nuance that can be sifted through. The more you know....

Now if you say you can decide for yourself then why be fearful of reading 'other's' news? Will it automatically program you to that viewpoint? How? I read the local paper. Then the WSJ online. The Times. Fox. AP. Newsweek. Business Insider. I have the time. I have the need to know. I too, can discern the subtle change in adverbs and adjectives that can change the way reports are understood. It happens with a lot of folk. Science says the more data you have, the better your understanding will be. I guess plenty of folks don't believe that. IMO

I’m tired of the excuse that this administration inherited an empty cupboard.  Even if that lie were true, why did it take 3 1/2 years to look in the cupboard?

If the game show 'doctor' would just stop pontificating on medical issues he knows nothing about, then we wouldn't have to have all the 'experts' explain what he said or meant. That's what I'm tired of.

Yikes, are you sure you want to go that far? I personally think 7.2.4 is more than enough, and I'd rather use the extra budget for RF7's... 😉

I haven't heard the CDT's, but I do have the Pro's in my ceiling for my Atmos speakers, and they are awesome. The Tweeter and Woofer Angle's are not adjustable on the Pro's, but this isn't an issue for Atmos speakers in my opinion, at least not in my room. There's probably a good reason Klipsch decided to drop the adjustable tweeter feature with the newer PRO's.

And yes, you probably will want to keep the grills on if you go with the PRO's... 🙂

Regardless of health experts warnings.  Brilliant.  Next, panic buying of injectable disinfectant and UV rays.

No. In spite of the authorities opening things up. People won't go if they're not feeling it.

I hope we don't have a repeat of someone doing what the prez said again. I hope.

So, who here, living in States that want to start opening up business, are going to participate in the opening?

Flipping weird this is. The money verses human life.

I know we are living in a money based world....Hmmmmmmm

I believe that it will be the people that determine when things are 'open'. Not State or City leaders. When the majority of the general population feels safe, then I think things will open up.

  13. "I was thinking this morning, and this is just kind of a thought experiment because I was thinking about this — why don't we just put everybody in a space outfit or something like that?" Moore asked. "No. Seriously."

OMG... and this is the kind of adviser and advice that the president gets. God help us if you can.

HST1600  that has served me well for years, unfortunately I will need more plugs than it allows going forward.

That's why only most of my stuff goes through it. I ran out too. I don't think my Lp-12 needs it as it has an onboard power supply but I could be wrong.

  15. I have used an old Monster HTS 3600 forever it seems with great results. We don't typically have much lightening in the Pacific NW. But we have plenty of wind and at times it causes brownouts. Mostly dependant on whether your power lines are run overhead or underground. Almost all of my HT/stereo system is run through the Monster. Never have had the least bit of problems or worry. My understanding from what I've read is that the Panamax brand is preferred by some. I don't know enough to say why, however. It's a great idea to use one.

  16. Simple, really. And I do mean simple, really. Wa state had projections that would facilitate the need for extra beds. The curve was initially very steep. But (IMO) the state had an early social distance and then a stay at home order. Remember this was ground zero in the U.S. It could've gone waay bad (again, that is a conjecture because we really know very little and I don't think I'm Nostrodamus like some on this board do, by making predictions.) I don't give two shakes of a rats *** how you or anyone else feels about any state's governors orders. We see that it was effective here.  And thus... no need for the extra facility. And as that was made apparent, the state sent the hospital to where it was needed more. Smart people plan for the unexpected as well as they can.
