  1. HDMI cables for home theater e.g. movie watching and video games if that's your thing. The receiver can do video switching, so on additional HDMI for the receiver output (again, if you are using that). There is a subwoofer, so a coax cable for the sub LFE input. ***Note, some companies try to label 'special' subwoofer cables. You don't need a 'subwoofer cable as a $5.00 monoprice coax works fine.
  2. Actually, It's nice to hear you like the results. Congratulations. Sorry. I guess I better like the results. I am the one listening. Haha. I have to say though, it really is clean. I have some good vinyl and I can hear every guitar pluck, every breath. It really is shocking to me. Thanks for your interest. You have a killer system too from the looks of it.
  3. Sorry to get so wordy. I forgot to update everyone with the process. Hope you like the results though.
  4. You are starting in the makings of a fine system. I think everyone in this community will agree...Once you start, you will become a sound addict. It really is so much fun and we all love making something. I hope your upcoming choices offer all the sound you are looking for!!!
  5. After using a DDRC - 88A Dirac Processor to calibrate, I am running 67Hz. There was a peak I had to deal with, but easily corrected. I am not one for too much bass (exception being awesome movies), but I am not having any issues with subwoofer localization. The Pioneer Elite SC-91 has the ability to store several memory presets for setup preference. For movies the sub gain is around 0db and I have used the gain on the sub a couple times, but for music, I use the sub gain at middle, but the preset on the Elite for sub output -10db. The bass is still there, but not in competition with the RP-280F's. The overall sound at this crossover is remarkably crisp!!! 67Hz is still using much of the RP-280F capability, but removes strain from the amp and frees up overhead. I have listened to everything from Rock (Kiss Vinyls and Journey and AC/DC), to the most boomy of Sci-fi movies (Transformers). The results are fantastic. The Dirac made the difference. I can hear every whispers at low volume, and every thud even in night-time mode. To anyone reading this, the new Reference Premier Series steals much of the Palladium's thunder without breaking the bank. I will post Dirac graphs to anyone who wants them in comparison to Palladium Series. The results are +-3db in most categories, which is the threshold of human perception.
  6. Thank you. See you online. Happy listening!
  7. Houston, we have a problem. I don't have a solution to that. Sorry I can't be more constructive.
  8. Oh shoot...That's no good. Anyone have any idea what a good remover would be without damaging the enclosure? You risk danger of damaging the whole enclosure if forcefully removed.
  9. I 2nd your post. If you look for a week or two max on either CL or eBay, you will stumble upon some RF 7's. RF 7 II's are a bit harder, but again, credit to Nismo, they do show up. More or less, you would not need another set of fronts for most of your life if you got RF 7II's.
  10. im a denon fan myself but marantz is sister company so there really isn't much difference between the two. You want to go 5.1 or 7.1? You aren't too far from me either. What can you actually spend on speakers right now?Hey, you have an 805 Onkyo, I loved that little guy. Only reason I sold it was I needed 4k60 pass-through. Venerable beast though.little guy??? You must be a body builder. 60lbs and 130x7 all channels driven is nothing short of epic even to this day. Lol not much out there still that can touch it power wise. But I hear you on the pass through. Well not 4k but no pass through sucks. That's kind of why I am offering it with the palladiums if someone wants them local or driving distance. Just nothing to ship it. So it would stay for a backup if I end up shipping them. But still haven't had much action on them I knew I would ruffle your feathers with the 'little guy' statement. If I may ask, why would you be getting rid of Palladiums? Those are epic on all fronts.
  11. Pretty simple fix for a DIY'er or pro. New jack(s) and a soldering iron will fix that in about 5 mins.
  12. Nice setup Nismo. Just read your signature. Velodyne...yikes. Those are crazy nice. Thanks ! Right now I'm 5.2.4 & my HT has never sounded better. The Velodyne has served me well for almost 15 years as well. But.... the time has come to upgrade it. Just ordered a new toy... it should be here next week. That will give me time to rattle-proof my windows & duct tape everthing else in place. Some new LFE is on the way ! OOooooooooo, you have my attention sir. What is the new toy? R-115SW I hope. Lol. Maybe even two! Be sure to post some HT pics so we can see your new setup! Sorry, I don't want to derail jloew's thread, but the R-115SW is 75lbs / 400W cont / 800 peak. New toy is 122lbs / 800w cont / 2400 peak / with dual 15" drivers. Sorry jloew, my bad. But Holy Crap Nismo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Holy crap!! You definitely know how to find a deal. NICE!!
  17. Just north of you, Twin Cities MN area. There are deals everywhere. See my previous post quoting Scrappydue.
  18. Scrappydue, please allow me to re-enforce your point of view. I too have gone the wrong route in the past and paid and paid for it. One lesson I have learned...And I mean this with all due respect to you (jloew) and anyone else who reads this - If funding is a real issue, speakers for the most part evolve slowly and are so crisp now, buy speakers. Please listen to us and maybe wait until you can get a few dollars extra and spend on the nicer speakers. "They can last a lifetime." Receivers can be had new or used anywhere. They have no moving parts save for couple of knobs, so get what works for now, and then splurge on the one you really want when you have the money. The speakers will always work...Especially from KLIPSCH!!!
  19. My recommendation would be to the tune of the Yamaha Aventage gear you can land through Accessories4Less. You can also scope to see if you could find one of the Emotiva Fusion 8100's like I mentioned. It will absolutely dominate anything else out there at the $400-$500 price range. Agreed. You should be able to land an RX-A740 for around $600-ish. It has enough juice to power a very nice setup. It would also leave you room for expansion in the future. I will post Yamaha's link, but use IbizaFlame's suggestions for a better price. http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/aventage/rx-a740_black_u/?mode=model#page=2&mode=paging
  20. That could be your problem. I'm keeping Win 7 for now.
  21. Very nice setup. I have yet to hear the new Premiere Series. I've owned a TON of Reference over the years. I've heard great things from owners of the Premiere series. Is this your first Klipsch setup? Thank you for the great detail in your answer. I marked as solved because it worked. It is not my first, but it is the highest quality setup of my Klipsch ownership. I must say, they have 'nearly' the knockdown power of the most recent RF 7 II's , but the clarity is through the roof. I tuned with a Dirac setup using a Marantz Amp to calibrate, and I feel I could go toe-to-toe with far more expensive systems. And I am speaking of quality, not just volume level. The person I borrowed the Marantz from to tune, has Definitve Tech Mythos Speakers, and I feel my sound quality rivals or surpasses that. Watching Jurassic Park Blu-ray post calibration, I felt I was in a rain storm in my living room. I could hear every drop as though it was raining. With the R-115SW, every clap of thunder or step of an angry T-Rex was earth shattering without drowning out the rest of the system. The new horns are particulary nice. They don't become invasive at all. Just clear reproduction. Side note: I saw your pictures you just posted...You should charge people to watch movies on that nice setup. Well done.
  22. Holy good answer!!! Jloew, listen to this answer!
  23. It seems to work doing it this way. May as well show you since you are helping. Hope you like it.
