Sent from my LG-D950 using Tapatalk I've noticed that the 160s seem to respond more than usual to wall placement. Pull them away from the back wall and they sound light and lean. Push them back and bass can easily become overpowering.I've never had another model that responds so much to wall placement. Maybe it has something to do with the tractrix port, but I feel like I have complete control over the tonal balance. Interesting, I'm building some stands for them and I estimate they will be about a foot from the back wall for starters. I'm sure I will be playing with them a bit to get the best balance of bass. Thanks joeinid! Yeah I think that they were a great deal at $600 but a fantastic deal at $440! Although I haven't heard these, that big, bold, dynamic sound, that signature Klipsch live experience will always be there! I will be interesting hear what the tweaks to the horn, like the rubber material used, shape of the throat, cabinet design, baffle and the new tractrix port add to the already impressive sound. Thanks MORE KLIPSCH PLEASE, glad to be here! I think vintage gear is hot. When i was first getting into audio in the mid 80's it wasn't as much of the big chassis, big knobs, switches, meters, spectrum analyzers of the 70's. 70's gear to me was when audio components were as their sexiest.

Thank you wvu80 for that great info! I do like deep bass and maybe later my budget and space will allow, i will have one. I think what i love more about subs is how they anchor all music deep or not, if that makes any sense. I will listen to just about anything once but my favs are vocal jazz and most Jazz in general but love blues, 70's, 80's and some 90's rock, R&B, Funk, and some Hip Hop. I'm a huge Quentin Tarantino fan, and I love the last Batman series. But any good action, drama, and comedy, i'm on board.

Thanks jweber and Marvel! Marvel my HT days were good times but i am 2 channel for life! I did dabble in multi channel music and it was very very cool but it's something about that experience i get from a good 2 channel music system that's absolutely priceless. I not saying i will never pursue that multi channel experience again, especially with newer formats to explore like blu ray audio, but the simplicity and intimacy (for lack of better words) that keeps me coming back for more.

Derrickdj1, I agree, most of the well established audio names will sound good, and i love learning of new features and how i can benefit from them. Thanks mattSER, I think i looked at most of them and i think they are all great performance choices but if i remember correctly, most of them were missing some key features that i wanted. Ski Bum, i love deep bass and i listen a little bit of everything but budget and space is my limiting factor now. I'm not sure of the dimension of my room off hand but it's not really big so maybe with combination of the bass extension from the RP 160M and room gain may give me plenty of bass for now. Yes willland suggested checking out yamaha as well. I like the R-N602 and i really like the A-S801 with the ESS SABRE DAC even though its way past my initial budget.

Just ordered my first pair of Klipsch speakers today!!! SOOOO EXCITED!!!! I ordered RP 160M for a 2 channel bedroom system. My next purchase will be a receiver. I have been researching and i need at least one coaxial and optical input, I'd also like to have a phono input, WIFI would be nice but not necessary and i like app control so i can control the amp with my phone but again not absolutely necessary. Of course i would like good quality DAC's and good quality power. I am favoring 2 receivers, Harman Kardon HK3770 and the Onkyo TX-8160 both on paper seem to be a great fit, both great names in audio. The Onkyo is pretty new, no reviews yet and the HK has been around for a while but i haven't seen many reviews. The one review i read on the HK was good but the new Onkyo is so well rounded, it has a Asahi Kasei AK4452 DAC 384K/32 bit, i'm not familiar with that seems to handle every audio format available (Apple Lossless, DSD 2.8/5.6 MHz, Dolby TrueHD, FLAC 192/24, LPCM, Ogg Vorbis, WAV, WMA) which i use many of these. Also has a Front USB input for my flash drives. My only issue with the Onkyo is some of the random older av and stereo reviews have mentioned software problems and some crashing issues. Anyone own or familiar with either one of these receivers? I've never owned either brand so i'm not biased in anyway and i am open other suggestions in and around the $399 to $499.99 price range. Thank you for any opinions or suggestions.
