  1. I'm looking at buying the RS-3 surround sound speaker. Two questions: * What speaker stand do you recommend? * How do the speakers attach to the stand? With screws? Friction? Other? Thanks, Larry
  2. Are there any experts who can help me with the speaker setup for my system? First, my setup: Pioneer VSX-9500S A/V Stereo Receiver Main Speakers - Klipsch KLF20 Center Channel - KLF-C7 Subwoofer - Klipsch KSW12 Surround Speaker - NONE. These outputs from the Receiver are unconnected. I can't afford these yet. First problem: I am running the Avia setup disk. I am running the setup (prior to the subwoofer part) to balance the speakers. First, there is a voice that identifies the speakers (front right, center, front left, right surround and left surround). The only problem is that I hear him speaking when he says right surround and left surround. The surround sound speakers are unconnected!! Why is this happening? Yes, I checked to make sure that the back of the receiver was connected correctly. The rear speaker outputs are unconnected. More setup info: The receiver has the Pro Logic Center Mode Switch to Wide "Use this setting when a large enclosure center channel speaker capable of reproducing frequencies below 100Hz is connected). The Surround Mode Selector Switch is set to Dolbe Pro Logic Surround. I have the A speakers on, B speakers off, and Rear/Center on. I think that solving problem #1 will probably take care of problem #2, but if you need more info to solve read on Second Problem: Using a sound meter I run Avia and balance all of the following as output from the receiver (front right, front left, center, right surround and left surround). Yes, I don't have surround speakers, but I hear them through the left and right mains. By balancing the three speakers all five speaker tests from the Avia DVD (front right, front left, center, right surround and left surround) measure equal (within 0.5dB which I believe is well within the accuracy of the sound meter). Next step is to balance the subwoofer with each of the three speakers. This one has me puzzled. When I compare the output of the left center with the subwoofer, the subwoofer has less dB than the left center (say 1-2dB). Compare with the center channel it has more (say 4dB more). Compared with the right speaker it is about equal. This astounds me since all three speakers were set to the same level. Here is a possible hint, but I dont know what to make of it. The Pioneer VSX-9500S does not have a subwoofer output and is only capable of producing Dolby Pro Logic Surround. I have the output of the A speakers connected from the receiver to the subwoofer inputs. The mains are then driven from the output of the subwoofer. Any ideas anyone? Let me know if you need more info to solve the problem. I'm having trouble with it.
