  1. H-ED Well, once again---some great info---I am downloading and printing the Primer-----P S---do you have a line where I can get a deal on ink jet cartridges Tks Dave
  2. H-ED So, as I envision this---the bottom SVS is upside down and the top sub is rightside up---correct? How far off the floor is the bottom sub and how much distance between the inverted top of the bottom sub and the top sub? This seems to address some of the reading I've done on the sub acoustics/location (forgot which article right now). So, this is theoretically superior to just putting a couple of SVS's side by each??? WAs wondering if you discussed this with the SVS boys-- Ron and/or Tom??? and what they said Tks Dave
  3. HEd Any chance you could share a picture of the SVS tripod config---contraption? Tks Dave
  4. HEd Did I read that right?---you've got your SVS's stacked--one sits on top of the other--overall 7' high? Tks Dave
  5. HW Being an STL local---can I come out and watch this install? "I will be connecting four stranded wires to each Heresy (undetermined method at the momemt) and through small holes in the ceiling raise the speakers and then secure them to either roof rafters or ceiling joists - invisible suspension!" Holy Cow! and I thought I had "gone over the top" Just teasing---my living room as morphed into a used Klipsch store---- Bet the folks at Klipsch reading this stuff--must FREAK OUT Keep up the great work out there in St Charlie, HW Dave
  6. Ninja I am also watching HW's experiment on this. I am pretty sure he is wanting to use two individual HeresyII's on their sides (with the horns of each abutting each other)---and is wanting to know how boyh can be driven-by the same C channel signal---don't think he's building one BIG ctr channel spkr---- Forgive me HW if I mis interpreted your MO on this. Dave
  7. jhawk Don't see a PM----send me one or e mail me Rock Chalk Jayhawk!---K UUUUUUUUUUUUUU
  8. Looking for one----black finish preferred and 8 out of 10 condition Any clues---let me know Tks Dave S
  9. Okay H W I just measured my cabinet---and yes 2 HII's on their sides will work (D_ _ _ it)and would even look pretty good too!----(why did you dream this up, HW?) Okay now I HAVE to know how the dual ctrs work for you Pls keep me posted------Dave
  10. HW Let me know if that dual Heresy C--channel solution works out---- maybe then you'll need another pair (to augment the fronts--keep it all balanced) !! That way you could have what---8 of 'em firing away ?(maybe I lost count) Ain't it fun? Dave PS---was serious about the C channel dual H-II experiment---I'd have room for two also if on their sides---just can't cut the vertical set in my cabinet (without tearing out the cab roof----hey I've gone this far--why not !!)
  11. H-Ed Forgive me----I think my post had a bit of an "edge" to it which wsn't intended---It certainly is in K's best interests to support their product already out there--tech support AND commerce in the used market. These Klipsch speakers are about the only thing in my system that seems to hold value new or used. You are correct--the folks at K are super---I have had several call backs from them over the last 30 days on product Q's I had. I imagine that their reluctance to support a "yard sale" type thread has more to do with wanting to avoid the natural "wrangling" that will always occur between traders (vs any legal liability issues)---I'm sure they have their hands full doing what they do best and don't need the attendant , effort and expense of referee'ing trader disputes----they're smart---leave that stuff for the EBays of the world! Just my 2 cents Tks Dave
  12. H-E Since this is Klipsch's forum---iniitiated, sponsored and supported by them I supppose that they have every right to determine what is/isn't allowed. I imagine that it is not the "legal eagle beagles" saying no--it's the business folks at Klipsch. After all, their thing is to move new boxes--not facilitate a used market (which would conceivable impede their main MO) (the guy buying a used Heresy doesn't need to buy a new one) I doubt very much there are any real concerns about liability issues. Does anybody have an extra Academy laying around! Dave S
  13. Am buyling a new pr of HeresyII's---have heard that speakers need to be "burned" in---would like to know the proper "technique" for doing this once I get them Tks Dave
  14. Looking for suggestions on the best (lowest) place to buy NEW (Heresy II's)---sent "Supply My Hi FI" an email and a voice msg two days ago--and no word back. Any other I net sellers of new that would be better? (any negative feedback on Hi Fi Supply) Tks Dave
  15. Thanks Henry---looks like your a fellow STL guy---I'm at 40 and Lindbergh area Can you suggest the best place to buy some H II's new? Dave S
  16. HornEd Thanks for all of the work on the SN#'s Right now--looking for a pair of HeresyII's---but am at the point of probably just buying new (raw oak so I can finish to match some woodwork)--these will be side surrounds (have H-II's upfront that are about 1 year old)--not seeing much new HII's out there---lately the EBAy stuff is all 1985-87 (and alot of it not H-II's) Are the II's important vs the regular H's?---looks like these end up selling for 500 or so delivered---so maybe better off with the new ones at $900 retail Any thoughts appreciated---Tks Dave
  17. So, the cabinet needs to be opened up to get a mfg date?---not coded into the SN# I take it Turns out--can't use one HeresyII for the ctr---would have to tear apart a cabinet I sweated my B--- and wallet off building----hoping to close on an Academy soon Am seeing Heresy's on EBay---but not II's (I don't think)---that's why was wondering about SN# coding on Heresy's and other K spkrs----On the H II"s---I guess if it doesn't say "HeresyII" on the back cabinet sticker--then it isn't a II---correct? Tks
  18. Most mfgs code their SN# to indicate at least a month and year of manufacture---does any one know the Klipsch code---(if there even is one)? Tks Dave
  19. HornED Will have a 3 week old C7 in medium oak finish for you provided that a deal I am working on for an Acadmey works out---should know by end of the week--but would need to take delivery of the Acadmey first to verify it is a true "keeper"---so by early next week---will know for sure. By the way----how does one interpret Klipsch serial #'s as to the date of mfg? (most mfg's code these to indicate at least a month and year production date) Tks Dave S
  20. Have a pair of HeresyII's----has anyone ever heard of someone changing the speaker cloth color?? I can't imagine there is any kind of paint that is suitable--maybe dying the fabric? Also, has anyone ever seen the "brown" Klipsch cloth?----is it dark brown or what? Wonder if Klipsch would offer this service? Anybody know anything--pls let me know too! Tks Dave S
  21. Don't know your price range--but the Pioneer VSX 49TX I just bot is pretty awesome---the auto spkr calibration system is unbelievable----the thing weight like 70lbs----had a cheap JVC before---so I'm not the best judge---bot the 49TX for $2500--new delivered (MSRP is $4K)----check the 47TX as well---cheaper with less DAC's and user adjustment but cheaper FYI Dave S
  22. What is the diffence between these two---the HeresyII spec says "years built: 1985-" Can one assume that if a Heresy is built in 1986 or after it is a HeresyII? What is the difference, anyway? I am adding two Heresy's to my system and have HeresyII's now---assume it's important to stick with the "II's"---but maybe not. Any advice is appreciated Tks Dave S
  23. Max G How about a pair of C-7 (CTRS) for the rears? THey could fit and I already own one---would only need to buy one more--- Am using the new Pioneer VSX 49TX--THX AVR---believe it's 130w per channel----will all the Heresey's and C7's employed in the back--over stress it? do you think? I'm not locked into all Heresey's was just going along with H-Ed and the others suggesting same "all around" RIght now---all I have are a pair of HereseyII's I'd like to use a front mains and a C7 Ctr---what would be better or best for the sides and rears?? Should add that the rear spkrs will be 7 feet from the sweet spot vs 13's each for L and R side surrounds, perhaps this would help balance the proposed Heresey sides with the needed smaller rears---what do you think?----- TKs Dave S This message has been edited by dsommerl on 02-07-2002 at 06:04 PM
  24. quote: Originally posted by Scubadj: I am having the same speaker dilemma. I am set with Cornwall fronts and C-7 front center. I bought a pair a Heresys for the surrounds. Now I've ordered the new Outlaw 7.1 processor and am looking for the other two speakers. Another set of Heresys is out - too big. Was thinking about RS-7 or RCW-5 in-walls. After reading HornEd's post that the rears are the least critical for the time being, any advice on how to arrange the remaining 4 speakers? Should I use the Heresys for the sides or the rears? I'm almost to the wiring stages in my room and any advice is appreciated. Hey Scuba Keep me posted on your progress---I'm going to take the advice and go with HeresyII's for my new CTR and pick up a pair for the side surrounds (adding to my existing pair of Heresy II mains)thus will end up with an odd single Heresy (assuming I can't find just one to buy for the CTR))-At the same time---(taking the board's advice I will go out and find another C7 center to add the the new one I have coming in from EBay and use that pair for the rears---(vs the new C7 CTR as previously planned)--So, depending on your final config---maybe we have some common ground to help each other out of our odd singles. I am going to end up with one Heresy II and at the same time---be in the market for another C7 (need in medium oak)If you were thinking of a HeresyII for a CTR (thus freeing up your C7) then I could move my extra Heresy to you and your extra C7 to me and we'd both have what we want to end up with. I have about $320 in the C7 coming in and I think a pair of HeresyII's in new conditioin can be had for around $600---Let me knokw if this makes any sense as you get toward your final config Tks Dave S
  25. Yes sir!---on to the auction sites!!! Tks for all the help and advice-----when it's put together (hopefully in 30 days) I will report in. (why are all my hobbies expensive ones?)---Know anything about the Ping fitting system? Later
