Thanks for all the great information. It is going to take me a while for all of this to soak in. Right now it is sort of overwhelming. I think this forum is one of the best places I've seen to learn about tubes and speakers suitable for tube amps.
My Cary 300SEI came with two Western Electric 300B tubes and three 6SN7GT (made in China) tubes.
I'm also using a New Tube tube CD players (a modified Marantz). Neither has yet had enough hours to really sing, though I admit it is getting better. I came very close to getting one of the Rega Planet 2000 CD players.
I will eventually add a phono amp and tunrtable as I have a great deal of vinyl. I like many kinds of music and though I was brought up on 60's and 70's electric rock I now lean toward acoustic and mostly prefer well recorded live performances.
I like many kinds of music now...blues, jazz, pop rock, classical. I'm just beginning to appreciate Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, and some of the older jazz greats.
As I posted on the tech portion of this forum I am a bit concerned about the "frosty" blue of one of my WE300B tubes glowing in the dark . One appears nearly transparent while the other seems to be half filled with 'blue frost.'
Thanks again...glee
