  1. Thanks for all the great information. It is going to take me a while for all of this to soak in. Right now it is sort of overwhelming. I think this forum is one of the best places I've seen to learn about tubes and speakers suitable for tube amps. My Cary 300SEI came with two Western Electric 300B tubes and three 6SN7GT (made in China) tubes. I'm also using a New Tube tube CD players (a modified Marantz). Neither has yet had enough hours to really sing, though I admit it is getting better. I came very close to getting one of the Rega Planet 2000 CD players. I will eventually add a phono amp and tunrtable as I have a great deal of vinyl. I like many kinds of music and though I was brought up on 60's and 70's electric rock I now lean toward acoustic and mostly prefer well recorded live performances. I like many kinds of music now...blues, jazz, pop rock, classical. I'm just beginning to appreciate Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, and some of the older jazz greats. As I posted on the tech portion of this forum I am a bit concerned about the "frosty" blue of one of my WE300B tubes glowing in the dark . One appears nearly transparent while the other seems to be half filled with 'blue frost.' Thanks again...glee ------------------ The votes are in and the "ears" have it.
  2. This is my first post, so please excuse me if this is posted twice. I just purchased a Cary 300SEI integrated amp and am concerned about the WE300B tubes. In the dark when the amp is on one tube appears mostly clear except for the blue halo around the crown and the orange glow of the filaments. The other tube, however, on one side of the tube appears to have blue frost ( I know it isn't frost, but that's the best way I can describe it) from theshoulder of the tube to the base. When the amp is off this 'frost' is not visible. Is this something that I should be concerned about? The tubes are under warranty. Please forgive my lack of 'technical' knowledge. I am new to this world of tubes. Thanks...glee ------------------ The votes are in and the "ears" have it.
  3. Any one have any suggestions for speakers with my Cary 300SEI? I heard one years ago with some Klipsch speakers. I'm not certain which speakers they were, but they sounded wonderful. glee ------------------ The votes are in and the "ears" have it.
