  1. You will love the sound. Tweeters are right at your face from a seated position and very clear. Always said they needed l pads for mids and high adjustments for my room. Using schiit loki for that reason has helped a ton.  Bumped up bass at 20hz and 400 hz a fuzz and 2000hz and 8000 down a fuzz and I can't tell you how happy I am. I have the cherry also. Listening to fandango by ZZ right now on the 280s and it sounds like they stopped by. Im happy for you getting your new speakers. I got mine last year at this time. Im using the emotiva pt-100 pre and a-300 amp. For the money its very nice,  Its all I need for these 50 plus year old ears. 150 watts per ch is a great match for these speakers but they will rock for sure with much less. Peace!

  2. It hasn't  been quite a week but Ive been using the loki alot the last 3 days. So far 0 negatives except I wish it color matched my other gear. Its all black but I tell you this thing is sweet! You truly do not know its there till you turn those knobs a bit.  When turning the knobs everything is small but rock solid and turning the knobs it  is mouse fart quiet! So far just using it with the rp280f and I can listen all day. And yes I took the tissues off the tweeters without getting the fatigue I used to fuss about. I can get much better control with 4 adjustment points than the loki than the the 2 on the emotiva pt-100 and the freqs picked were well thought out. The loki is built like a tank and well worth the asking price. Im listening to the pt-100 and spotify using a set of audio technica ath-m40s and just have the controls on the pre. Going to put the loki in between the cd player and the preamp later and check out how it works at its intended use of being used with headphones. Listening to super tramp crime of the century for the first time in Years.  Peace!

  3. I had schiit on the front porch when I got home! Hooked it up and played with it for a half hour or so. Have not found any thing bad to report. Super quiet when  the controls are turned and you don't know its inline until adjustments are made and no imaging issues to report. Clapton stayed right in the middle of the stage. Will need more time for a better report and for now controls are left to right 2:00, 01:00, 10:00, and 01:00 o'clock. Two of the knobs were very slightly off the zero but I haven't corrected them yet. Just need to pull them off and move them a fuzz but it really does not bother me because they won't be at 0 anyway. I would go ahead and say buy it but Im going to give it a week before I make a call like that. It is very small but build quality looks great!  Does anyone have a frequency response graph for a rp280f?

  4. I just signed up. Sounds great to these tired older ears! Bumped the treble up a fuzz. Still waiting on the loki. They have a deal running right now if you are wanting to give it a try. 3 months for 99 cents.

  5. Im thinking of getting spotify and have been using free for a few days before going to a better package. Been seeing some say it causes computer problems when used for a year or so. Anyone on here used it longterm and have any problems crop up? Also I used napster long ago and is this not really legal either? Thanks in advance.

I've had my Audio Control 520b since oh, 1979 or so. 5 bands (36, 60, 120, 1k, 15.5k) at +/- 12dB. Works like a charm and easier than changing diaphragms, crossovers, etc., with the same result. It's a no-brainer.

People will change tubes, cables, cords, drivers, etc to change sound but turn a knob oh hell no. I never got it but thats whats fun about audio. Its little different for everyone. If it sounds better to your ear how can it be a bad thing. Its the first time in my life saying this but I can't wait to get the schiits!

  7. Don't hate me non tone control types but I'm going to try  the schiit audio loki 4 band eq. I didn't want a ton of control to have to readjust 10 or 15 slides to taylor the sound each time a change was made just something to change things around abit if the recording needs help. Just ordered it a hour ago and it should be here in a few days. Anyone else using one or any of their other schiit?

  8. I have emotiva gear you have listed on your list and I love it! Im not anybody but for a person who loves great sounding music I think you would be very happy. I sure haven't heard everything and I'm sure for a ton of money a little better sound can be had but for the money spent its off the charts.

  9. Which one and why, 19s are bringing crazy prices but I've always wanted a pair after hearing them as a teen. Putting together another system with a tube amp and TT.  Would most likely have cabs built and get drivers from GPA if I go Altec. I know this is a klipsch site so be kind:).

  10.

I really like my Emotiva erc-3 but don't have much to compare it to but it sounds great to me. Lots of others seem to agree online but have heard some complain about noisy motors but not a sound out of mine. It's sounds better with better highs than I've gotten before. Very good player for 500 bucks new. Nice remote!

  11. I may just try a equalizer like someone spoke about above. I had a jvc reciever as a young teen with a 5 or 7 band eq and loved it but I was 13. I like the idea of not adding more to the chain of equipment than you have to so I don't want to get one and not like it or not use it. Some of you were chuckling about the tp over the tweeter and believe me I think its pretty cornball also but it works. I tried pulling the shrill grill as I call it while I was posting last night off the tweeters and the fatigue started coming on like a herd of buffalo. Its not something I can help. Put it back on and Its a night and day difference. Those thinking I'm not very smart thats ok. I always managed to keep at a above avererge income with a brain somewhere between ernest t bass and albert einstein but a lot closer to ernest t for sure. Back to the issue. Do I want a eq and what kind? Would DBX be a contender?
