I just ordered a KCCS-1 for that very purpose. I decided on this based on the similarity of the Tractrix horn to the kg 5.5's and the sensitvity measurements

The cabinets of my KG 5.5's are deteriorating rapidly!! One has been repaired for a failed glue joint already. Seams are visible down one side of one cabinet, showing that panel to be constructed of 3 panels joined together. The top, bottom and side panels appear to be made of plywood or some other laminate besides MDF. (??) Based on this, does it make more sense to repair or to rebuild? If I rebuild: -Should the cabinets be built entirely of 3/4" MDF? -Will extra bracing change the frequency response or characteristics of the speaker? -The cabinets are quite resonant. Is this part of the design, or will the speakers benefit from a more rigid and acoustically inert cabinet?
