Long ago George Carlin said that he couldn't believe that people would pay so much for Evian water until he read the name backwards.
The tap water here stinks; we use an RO filter. When it looks like rain they put extra chlorine and ammonia in the tap water. Almost all of it is surface water now, the wells caused subsidence and flooding. The well water pH was 8 or so, now it is 7.
New York City had great water for decades; giant pipes brought it from the mountains. Be thankful if you have good water, it isn't that common.

Every time I help assemble Ikea furniture or a ceiling fan or whatever I feel like writing "Made in the USA" on it ;-)

Do you do bottled water?

Coke and Pepsi often deliberately compete with each other, e.g., Coke bought Minute Maid so then Pepsi bought Tropicana. I don't know whether Dasani or Aquafina came first, but some smart guy figured out that it would be easy for them to get into the water business.
They were already purifying water so that the cola would taste the same everywhere. The other end of the plant had bottling machines, so all they needed was a hose to go around the soft drink equipment. New labels, the distribution was already in place, really a turnkey business.
The odd part is that a pint of water sells for more than a pint of cola!
