  1. in reality we're not so much bashing the products, as the product:price ratio that they're pushing.

i know when i saw some BOSE in a store a few years ago i was so excited to hear these "Most Trusted" sounding speakers...

DAMN was i dissapointed! i was thinking "How could this be worth 3,000 dollars... they're must be better for the price"

the problem is most yuppies/joes out there we just say to themselves "this is high end audio!!"

I'm not defending bose, I just don't see the point. If someone was to give some informative comparrisons, that would be understandable, but to just open up a new thread to simply bash on bose...

Think about it, I doubt that Klipsch would want people going off to other forums and dogging them. Bose is just another company who is try to make and sell product to the people. Do they meet the standards of your basic audiophile and above? No, but there are those out there that do think they are a good sounding setup. I have heard them and
    for what they are
I think they sound very good. I would not buy any but they do sound good.

    Eh anyway... off my soapbox.

it would be a much different story if they werent pushing thier products off at MASSIVLY inflated costs for what you're getting.

for example, a pair of BOSE headphones costs the same as a pair of HD570s.

the 570s blow the BO$E out of the water, but the average consumer will see the BOSE and think of thier massive marketing about being the most respected name in sound, and spring for those.

They dont publish specs, they're demos are put on in very controlled rooms with extreamly expensive electronics hidden from view...

thier marketing is a boardline scam, and they rip people off who dont know any better shamelessly

  3. I'm torn between either:

    4 DM303's, and an LCR3, with the little ASW300 sub that'd be ~$1k...

...or i'm thinking the 602 S3's up front, with either another pair in the rear, or some 600 S3's or 601 S3's in the rear, and the LCR60... that'd be more expensive... prolly ~$1.2k-$1.5k without a sub.

i really loved the 602's but the price is whats turning me off.. i'd have to wait MUCH longer to get them. the store does off a 100% store credit trade in dealio, so i can continue saving up for the 602s if i go with the 303s

i'll be heading back to the store to do more demoing and arrange an in home trial soon.

  4. the store i'm shopping with (I'm going with a B&W system.. i fell in love.. sorry Klipsch15.gif ) has an ASW300 sub in the package i'm buying, but i dont know if there will be any sense in buying an 8" sub.

the sub that comes with this is basically just going to cover until i get my Sonotube Tempest up and running..

so how much do Sunfires run for? He had one going in the Theater room and i was rather impressed for such a tiny package.

unless the ASW300 is some kind of mericale worker, i'll swap it for another sub in the similar price range, if the Sunfire is close, i'll go with that.

    thanks

6 rear channels. Most movie theaters only have 5. I didn't know people of your caliber existed. I'm in awe. Please pick my jaw up off the floor, along with my fallen RC-7.

i get the impression you've never seen HornEd's HT 9.gif

    is he still around?

  6. I already have a makeshift setup, and actually my rear surrounds are pretty nice bookshelf speakers on thier own. (Mission 781s)

i should have a full setup by Christmas, which would be cool with me. Then i'll set up the 781s with a good 2 channel amp for a 2channel setup

Exactly! Bike shopping in college was so much fun. First it's that cheap second hand $50 Magna bike. Then the $300 Cali Cruiser starts to speak your name. I ended up with the $800 GT XCR iDrive. Anyhow...

I would save up and get 5 Hereseys. You'd be the envy of everyone on this board, and it's sound would render a permanent smile plastered on your face. Dunno if you have a wife, but according to another post on another area on this forum, women have better hearing than us dudes do. So she'd probably dig it too.

    i'm 15 >=)

i have a mom though! fortunatly, i have a dedicated HT room, so thers no MAF concerns :)

i relized that i'm turning 16 soon, and then i relized i can get a pair of hersies from my parents if i go for the "combined christmas+birthday" thing.

that way i can get 4 hersies... my tempest DIY sub... then look around for another hersey/pair of them later...

hehehehe so.... 5 hersies.. and a DIY Tempest Sonosub...

  8. aww poor fire.

take some slick blankets (moving blankets if you have any)

lift up one side of the object, slide the blanket under. repeat for the other side.

then veeeeerrrryyyy gently pull at the blankets and see if it will slide.

you can also do this with dollies if you have acess to them, and that works way better.
