Welcome!  All the guys with oscilloscopes left long ago.  You'll fit in fine.

Mine is sitting on my bench.  I havent even put the tubes in it yet!  Oh well.  Soon i guess.  Then I have to learn how to use the damn thing.......

    I'd say $1000-1500.

Thanks.  I figured the damage to the sides was enough for someone to trim them out, and that they were pretty toasty.

The LaScala are well worth the listen.

Almost spent too much $ on some beaters the other day.  The more I looked at them, the more damage I saw. Patina was pretty though, but wasnt going to over pay for beaters, and drive 6hrs 1 ways.

Like all things, time/money. The less your budget, the longer it will take. The greater the budget, the sooner it can happen. Anything is possible if you wait long enough. With your budget expect 1000 miles one way.  Your central location will help. I think entry level is >$2K though. A $1500 pair will certainly require a substantial investment post purchase.

I recommend searching for Lascala fixers to get you over until you locate something better.  Belle will cost more due to their appearance. You will not loose any money on a Heritage Klipsch purchase you later decide to sell. Good luck on your quest.

I have heard a couple pairs of cornwalls, and 1 pair khorns.  I have read a lot of people building the reflex bin just to help with the bass.  I listen to everything, from Abba to ZZ Top.  Edm, earth wind fire, coltrane, pink floyd and led zeppelin, and loads of other stuff. I love the look of la scalas, but havent listened to a pair yet.

  5. Just wanted to take the time to introduce myself.  My name is Daniel.  I have a wife, 3 kids, 2 dogs, and a hobby of collecting hobbies.  Ham radio, cycling, music, disc golf, and air cooled vws are my primary money wasters.  Found klipsch speakers pretty early after getting back into home audio.

First record player was a console at 12 or so.  Used that until I moved out at 23.  Found a 80s rack system on the street a few years ago.  Used it until the whole electronics started to go bad somewhere in the thing.  Put it back on the curb a couple years ago.  Decided to buy a turntable to get back into audio after buying a house last year.  Now I have a 1200mk2, concept 4.5, and marantz LS-15A speakers.  I feel that the speakers are the weak spot, as the woofers were replaced before I got them.

I wont have much useful audio info to share, but have already learned a lot from this forum.

Thanks to all for the past and future information.

You're better off building a pair ---all you need is elbow grease and wood -plans are all over the net ------

Woodworking is really not my strong suit. I wish I had my late uncles talent

  7. Yea. Missed it by a few hours.  I understand that the people who have them, dont really want to get rid of them, and when they do they go quick.  I have a 2 year old girl, and 2 pitts.  Super mint isnt in my pocketbooks vocabulary either.

And I know I am new here, just havent taken the time to get an intro thread going yet.  Hopefully this evening.

  8. WTB "well loved" khorns.  Beer budget, champagne tastes, and have kids.  $1500.  Will rent U Haul for pickup.  Located in memphis TN, willing to drive on a weekend to pick up.

    Thanks

    Daniel
