  1. Hello mustang_flht yes, i can try this .. i just have to find 3,9 and 12µF caps .. I can try this while waiting for the arrival of my components to do the filter at 6dB / Oct like that of Bob crites slightly modified (A-4500 with change of the 2μF capacitor by 4 μF and addition of the self of 0, 5 MH in series with squawker) And now some pictures of my Iwata horns
  2. The Iwata horns has been made by one of my friends. It is made with slices of plywood I will post pictures as soon as i am back at home
  3. So, i am back... i tried many things ... with a second crossover board (see picture with the 2 boards).. The bass is crossed with the original cross of the AL-3 .. sometimes i changed the 136 µF capacitances with 77 µF, with 27 µF, without capacitances. I also tried the different crossovers mustang_flht calculated for me .. With the crossover from mustang_flht, it was better than with the al-3. It is not easy to make crossovers without listening. Thank you mustang_flht for what you have done for me. It is very nice of you. My La Scala clones are decided not to play well for me .. Something is perturbing. I do not know exactly what. At the end, i decided to replace all the old cap of the original Klipsch AL-3 crossover. i have put MKP cap. A little better but not enough to say it was a good idea. I have put 2 klipsch logos on my clones .. i hoped, it would play better with them ... :-)) So, now, i have read and read more times many discussions on this forum that handle around the La Scala and the crossovers. Some of you says that the type A crossover is perhaps one which give the better sound .. Only 6dB/oct slope and it seems to be not tiring to ear Do you think it is a good idea ? I will try to find better capacitances like oil capacitances (i don't know the real name in american : something like oil bath capacitors in metal tank) So i am open to any suggestions ? I am also looking for 2482 jbl diaphragm, because, i have 2 iwata horns for my JBL 2440 drivers but i would prefer to have phenolic diaphragm. I have seen that the 2482 diaphragm could go into the 2440 drivers. Next time i will show you my Iwata 2" horns.
  4. sorry, no test today .. too much work .. and no time to take for my La Scala clones. I will work on them next friday.
  5. mustang_flht do you think i will have more meddles by changing the resistors 15 ohms - 6,8 ohms to 10 ohms and 12 ohms ? as i think to know : eminence kappa 15c is around 99 dB sensitivity and with the bass bin probably something like 102 dB pd-5vh is given to have 110 dB sensitivity b&c de10-8 ohms something near 107 dB at 450-500 Hz / 4000 Hz the pd-5vh has approx 13,2 ohms , at 4000Hz , DE10 has about 6,2 ohms as good as i can detect on the diagram af this driver how do you calculate the attenuation ? i would say - no attenuation for the woofer, 6 or 7 dB for the atlas and 3 or 4 dB for the de10 .. am i right ?
  6. i try this if i find a 2,7 or 3mH inductance i can begin with the new correction of the meddle and later the tweeter i make these changes step by step
  7. I have 50µF oil capacitors .. and 27 µF mundorf MKP ones .. so i could make 77 µF ... I have tried without the 136 µF .. so it make a 6 dB crossover with only the 4 mH inductance .. on 4 ohms, i don't have calculate what cutoff it makes
  8. i stop making tests today ... my ears are bleeding !!
  9. i now have changed the 4,7 µF in parallel to the 14µF with a 3,3µF. the resistor 15 ohms and 6,8 ohms for the meddle work not better than the 6,8 and the 10 ohms. The meedles was too low. Now i will try to work on the tweeter .. i have a lpad (monacor pad) 8 ohms that i could use to make tests
  10. the atlas sound has a impedance of something like 13 ohms at the cutoff frequence
  11. and i do not want a high level tweeter .. not more than the meddles
  12. ok .. i first have put a 4,7 µF parallel to the 14µF. It is a little bit more than you said to me .. 14 + 4,7 = 18,7. I could put 3,3 µF to adjust just making that, the meddle seem to be a little better but not enough level. now i will try to change the resistors 15 ohms and 6,8 ohms .. if you think it will give me more level in the meddles
  13. ok mustang_flht i have REW and a umik-1 but alone on my island, i have some difficulties to know how this software works. So we can say, i have nothing to make sound measures. i will first reduce the attenuation of the atlas sound. many months ago, i had a lot of inductance and capacitors but i thought that i will never more make diy speakers .. i was wrong. i have sold them for a little little money .. and now they are missing. i try to find the resistors to reduce the attenuation of the meddles and i come back to you
  14. billybob, yes i have read it on this forum. RIP Bob. mustang_flht : my drivers are these : - Eminence Kappa 15C : 4 ohms - Atlas Sound PD-5VH : 16 ohms - B&C DE10 : 8 ohms I have also diaphragm of DE10 in 16 ohms that fit into the driver, and also have bought DE120 (8 and 16 ohms diaphragm). i didn't find at a good price a pair of k77 tweeters (EV T35 neither in 8 or 16 ohms) one more questions : what is the cutoff on the diagram with 3 OR 2,7 µF for the tweeter, and how much reduce with 2,2 Ohms serial and 6,8 ohms parallel ? same question with the 15 ohms and 6,8 ohms on the atlas sound ? to resume, on the 2 diagrams you calculate for me, could you explain mewhat are the cut frequencies and the attenuation ? none for the woofer, it is normal .. but for the other drivers. I read somewhere that the impedance of the pd-5vh is something like 13 ohms at the cut off frequence.
  15. thank you mustang_flht on my diagram, yes, the B&C is -4dB and the Atlas is -7dB. the diagram is wrong. my Atlas sound have been bought last year, and seem to be the 110 dB models ( and yes really in 16 ohms ). i have enough high frequencie sound level. i suppose that the mid is not correctly crossed with the bass and with the tweeter. Perhaps also too low sound level. I ask me myself, perhaps the Peavey FH-1 bass bin has more sound pressure level than the originalLa Scala bass bin. And perhaps, in that case, should i less reduce the power of the mid and high drivers .. I will try to find the capacitors to make the change you tell me. On my little island, it is very hard to find electronics parts (i mean good electronic parts) and here, the sellers only propose finished crossovers for professionnal sound (sono). Thank you very very much mustang_flht, i will try what you said. ps: yes i have seen that the pd-5vh goes up to 4100 Hz. pps: i do not know the cut off frequencies of the original AL-3 klipsch crossover. I supposed, it wa about 400 Hz and 4500 Hz.
  16. I have looked this software, even if it is late on my lost island now, i have nothing understand .. i will have a look tomorrow morning .. perhaps, it will be more clear for me .. perhaps, but i have doubts
  17. Yes RandyH000 i have bought the DE10 because you said me these was fine, and they are fine. I have also bought the de120 in case if the de10 were not good.
  18. I can t buy anything from the USA. When i will buy something, the final cost is 4 times more than the selling price. I wanted to buy 2 k-401 horns but finally it what so expensive that i have build my horns with wood. It will be thé same with crites speakers. I have asked him for 2 ct125.
  19. Ok, i will try tomorrow. It is late in my country. Thanks mustang_flht
  20. it will be hard for me to find the T2A transformer .. what is the induction for the tweeter ? 0,245 mH ?
  21. Mini dsp. I will try to find one. I have analogic sources and digital ones. I need 2*3 ways crossover, for 3 stereo power amps
  22. RandyH000, or perhaps, i should not put 6,8 Ohms and 10 ohms resistors on the pd-5vh to reduce the sound pressure ? perhaps have i too much reduced this speaker .. Do you think so ? I have no system to mesure the level of each speaker .. perhaps the Eminence Kappa 15C in the Peavey FH-1 cabinet has more energy than i think (more power - pressure, i don't know what is the correct name for the level in dB that the speaker can give with 1 watt)
