  1. Wow, thanks for all the info...I may just stay with what I've got for another few months... I looked at the HK 525 a couple of weeks ago, but since I was at CC I didn't check the specs. Can anyone tell me how the On screen display works if you mix different brands of equipment? Thanks!
  2. I don't buy equipment very often. I've had a JVC 5.1 receiver going on 5 years and I want to upgrade to 7.1, however, it seems like the formats change quickly and with the price of 7.1 receivers I'd rather not have to upgrade in a year. I was thinking either HK AVR 8000 or Onkyo 898. So, my question is, would either or both of these get me through a couple of years or will I need to upgrade before then? (and any preferences between the two) Also, I have a JVC 200 CD changer with On Screen Display, will the OSD work with a non JVC receiver?
  3. I have thought about building speakers myself, but have no idea how to shield them. Sorry if I disrupted the tread, I was just curious. I bet that 55 inch center would sound great!
  4. Boa, you might well be correct. I do have some attention to detail, but also have some need for some asthetic appeal as well. So, I choose to go with a speaker that I can place where I want to, and I'll be able to match it up, perhaps not perfectly, but to provide a high level of sound to my less than perfect ears. I would love to match them all but need to make it look decent.
  5. A question, will you need to video shield your custom speaker? If so, how do you do that?
  6. I bought RP-3's on Ubid, the cost, for that auction anyway, was so cheap I couldn't pass it up. Let me tell you, they sound great! I've read a few posts from members that say to go with the newer and not discontinued RF3,5,7's and I'm sure I would love them but for $528 delivered for a pair I don't think they can be beat, and no need for a sub. Enough of that, love the Reference series but I'm buying a Synergy SC-1 center. One reason, it will fit in my entertainment center and I can adjust it's output level to a level that will match(for me) the RP-3's. I installed IC-650's in the ceiling for my rear surrounds, listened and adjusted output to a good level and I'm loving my HT setup right now. For less than $900 I feel like I've got a great setup. I'm selling my Polk RM 6200 HT's to a friend so my cash outlay is just over $500.
  7. I ordered a SC-1 center from them over the weekend. I expect it to be here tomorrow via UPS ground. So far so good. I also read their reviews on Yahoo and they seemed good. Shipping is a little on the expensive side but as long as the product is delivered in good condition I'll say I'm satisfied.
  8. Thanks for the advice Dougdrake. Guess what, one of my RP3's was delivered. The other was taken off the truck 15 minutes later according to the transporation provides website and hasn't moved in 2 days. I called and they said that if it hasn't had any activity in 24 hours it's considered lost. So, I had to e-mail the shipper to put a trace on it. It's driving me crazy having one of them here, being able to look at it, but I don't want to hook up just one and listen to it.
  9. I was going to use it to power my outdoor speakers and then add some speakers in my bedroom and run those from the HK as well. The outdoor speakers are currently using the B speaker outputs on the receiver.
  10. I'm going to be using my Polk center channel for a while. I'll probably get the Klipsch RC3II in the next couple of months. The only thing I have to figure out is where I'll put it. It's a little to big to fit inside my entertainment center. I may have to put it on top and angle it down. Looking at my manual for my recevier and it doesn't say anything about pre-amp outs? I think the HK amp instructions said I could connect using my surround speaker outputs, that didn't sound right to me but as you can see I don't know. Thanks!
  11. I just ordered a pair of RP-3's, I've been wanting Klipsch speakers since I was 17, which is much longer ago than I want to mention. I have a couple of questions that I was hoping the members here could help me with. I have a JVC RB884V receiver and a Harmon Kardon PA2000 amp(just got it)and I want to know what's the best way to connect my new amp. I've got the receiver running my Polk 6200 home theater system and 2 outdoor speakers on my patio. The Polk fronts and powered subwoofer will be replaced by the RP-3's and my Polk MII surronds will be replaced(most likely) with my new Klipsch IC-650's. I have to admit I don't have any experience with connecting an external power amp to a receiver. Also, feedback about the RP-3's or IC-650's would be appreciated!
