  1. You're so right... I find myself being in a trap, a really bad one always thinking "what if I bought the 8000F's since they're on sale...that way I wouldn't upgrade the L and R channel ever again in my life". I've heard the 820's twice, first with a subwoofer and the second time without one. Low frequency was really good and they fill up the living room I was in extremely well! The only thing I didn't quite like was the horns, being a bit on the bright side.
  2. I'd love to hear your opinion about those 2 specific models, the 820F's and the 8000F.. They're almost double priced.. Is it worth it?
  3. Oh I didn't know that about the China thing.. Thought they were made in the USA. As for the prices, it's because they have the 8000f's on sale. They normally cost 1488euros all year, but now they are down to 1199euros.
  4. Greetings friends, First of all I'd like to thank you all for the patience and your precious help (I know I can be annoying at times..) I will review my situation, budget, thoughts and all that, so it's easier to review the whole story here. My current setup: Sound setup, (All Kenwood except my subwoofer). Kenwood 21 Series - 2 small tower speaker - 1 center - 2 surrounds - MA-300amp - 1 Energy subwoofer - . This setup is extremely old, it does support 5.1surround sound, but only through 5 RCA cables. No HDMI's whatsoever. Sony 55inch TV A room almost 4m x 4m with 3m ceilings (this will change in 1-2 years when I move to a bigger house). What I need: 2 tower speakers, 1 center channel and an AVR. I started with the tower speakers because they got some good sales this period, at least in my country. Never seen AVR's going on sale where I live. I already ordered a pair of R-820F's at 650€ was 40% down. Salesman called me saying that those speakers are out of stock and they should be back on 20-25th of December. In the mean time I searched and searched... and I kinda regret not going for the RP line, since everyone out there don't like the simple R line and they swear that it's worth it to get the RP line instead. Now, I have already paid 650euros and I could give ~300more, budget wise, a total of 950-1000euros. I'll write down the list of the tower speakers, available in my country and their prices: - R-620F's at 550euros - R-820F's at 650euros - RP-4000F's at 800euros - RP-250F's at 830euros - RP-5000F's at 990euros - RP-260F's at 1130euros - RP-8000F's at 1200euros - RP-6000F's at 1240euros - RP-280F's at 1360euros Is it worth it to push the budget and leave the R-820F's behind to get something more "premium" ? I've read that the R line is made in China and they aren't that good. Having second thoughts and can't decide..
  5. I guess its like comparing apples to oranges, huh? That's what I'm reading all over the internet, that's why I'm saying that I'm considering the RP line. I will post my thoughts, my budget etc below.
  6. The 620F's are 100euros cheaper than the 820F's that I already purchased and indeed they could save me money, but I always think about getting something good, so that I can keep it for the future
  7. "Price-performance ratio" that hit me like a truck, I love hearing it.. I know and you helped me a lot last week to find out what piece of equipment to get and thank you for that..
  8. I was always concerned about wattage, it's always a lovely feeling to have the equipment that can be pushed hard. You have a point there, it's a serious condition and it's on its peak the last few days.. That's what I wanted to do, wait for the 820's and save my money for the AVR and of course for a center speaker.
  9. No no, 8000 is at 1200euros and the 280's is at 1360euros.. The 820f's I ordered costs 650euros.. so if I wanted to change my order I should pay the extra money.. They are from the RP line and thats why they "should" have better quality but not wattage.
  10. Yes, the 8000f's are almost double priced compared to the 820f. Should I go for a smaller speaker but from the RP line since the quality could be better or?
  11. Exactly, around Christmas. And until then I cant help it but to search around, if I made a good choice. Rp250f at 840€ Rp5000f at 990€ Rp4000f at 800€ The bigger ones like the 280f or the 8000f's go 1000€+..
  12. Greetings, Me and some friendly folks in here had a talk the other days about speakers and avr's. I came to the conclusion that Id by the 820F's for 650€ (black friday sale). So I paid for them via Visa card. The guy from the store called me immediately saying that this model is out of stock and it should be here in 15days or so. In the mean time, I've been searching and reading..did I make the right choice? Should I push the budget and go for the Reference Premiere serie, like the RF-250f or even the RF-5000?? Most people swear that the Rp series is only worth it and everyone should skip the R line. I need your honest opinions
  13. Ohh sorry for the misunderstanding (See English isn't my native language). The shop that I ordered the 820F's said it might take a few days to get to me and in fact he tried selling me some Elac speakers instead of the Klipsch ones....
  14. Glad to hear I have the whole catalog available. I ordered the tower a few days ago, still didnt ship them to me. My old AVR is a Kenwood M-A300, it's a 6 channel power receiver (the 6th is for passive subwoofers...) Why do you think that a new AVR wouldn't power them?
  15. The RC64 is almost as big as your TV! It's impressive indeed. Unfortunately there isnt a descent used market here, only a few people selling things, but definitely not Klipsch's level. As for the Center Speakers, I have 11 of them available (list going from the least expensive one to the actual beast) : - R-52C - R-34C - RP-400C - RP-250C - RP-500C - RP-600C - RP-440C - RP-404C - RP-450C - RP-504C - RC-64III But before I go for a center speaker, I need to upgrade my AVR, since I'm using a really old one, with no HDMI's..
  16. The RC-64 must be magical, it's really important for a speaker to be able to produce whisper quiet aaand when you need it to go crazy loud. And I guess this is even more important when it comes to movies (dialogues). Besides quality, you paid all this money for more headroom vs let's say a simple R-52C. Wouldn't that RC-64 be an overkill in a smaller room? When I visited a shop with dedicated HT speakers, the guy there told me that when it comes to movies, the Center speaker is like 80%!!! Imagine that, we're paying a ton of money for towers and the center channel does almost everything! But I guess no one would want to listen to music through a center speaker, or... Thanks for the replies, you're helping me understand this complicated world of HT's!
  17. I was indeed asleep. Different time zones thing is a pain! I couldn't sleep even before I ordered those 820's haha You guys are so right haha! Can't wait to unbox them, can't wait to hear them, with music and movies! My neighbors are going to love these.....
  18. Such a steal! Why does Klipsch only offering this 50% only for the 820's? So true, plus my honest opinion, they can go for a lifetime, or at least until you move into a huge house, with a massive living room and you want something more powerful
  19. Thanks for explaining the .1 / .2. The manufacturers confuse us that's for sure! Amazing setup by the way, really love it and imagine that I aint able to hear it! Your Center looks absolutely huge, what a beast!! I think that's the reason everyone starts with a 2.1, then go 3.1. They are the main speakers of a Home Theater setup. As for the Rp-504C, it stands at 700euros in my country, which is kinda expensive for my wallet. Even if I got that though, wouldn't it be unfair for my R-820F's? I'm asking this because I've heard that the 3 front speakers must be the same "to match" for more balance. Correct me if I'm wrong. For the surrounds, I'll use my Kenwood's ones, extremely old, I know, but I guess the surrounds don't need to be high-end at least from the start of the setup.
  20. You're definitely right! And bass power is of paramount importance for both music and movies! I'm so glad I ordered a good pair of speakers. For 355days the R820F's cost 950euros and only for ~10days during Black Friday season they drop down to 650euros. It's a steal!

  22. You have a point there! Is it a myth that for the same price you get better audio from a bookshelf speaker vs a tower one?
  23. It is important to have a solid audio gear for men, that's for sure. Thank you for everything again.. I'm making spacing left and right of my TV for the big towers! I hope the size isn't for nothing haha Thank you Billybob, you're awesome!!! Haha the challenge isn't over with me! Do you think I should get bookshelves instead of the 820s? 😇😇😇
  24. Yeah the name is misleading.. Ohh you visited many places in Greece. I live in Thessaloniki! I guess you're from Germany, right?
  25. Indeed, that's why I just rage quitted and I slept. I'm from Greece, why did you say Netherlands?
