  1. STL,

My problem is with self-appointed know it alls who lie in wait on these forums and lecture to;not listen to (read} the questions put forth by newbies, for the question's real meaning. You just buried him with techno-speak he MAY or MAY NOT be able to understand, and that my friend, is not an answer or an explanation. NO his query was not resonible, but it was more than REASONABLE.

Employment by Klipsch is not a fundamental requisite as to one's possession of people skills,(my opinion only).

  2. So I guess the answer is "none". Like the "respect" you showed just-me-the-dude.Apologies after the fact stink of condescension.I am not an expert but I understood his question. More than reasonable. If you think a question is stupid or has no merit,Don't Answer it with your opinion, because that keeps stupid people like me from asking again and who knows;with the RIGHT people answering (and you know who you are)we (I) just might LEARN something.

  3. Gentlemen,

Any acknowledged alternative crossover improvements availible for the IIs such as those (ALK) for the larger Heritage types? Plans, kits, etc.? A proven design? Something well received.I do not possess the skill to design networks but can execute an existing design, maybe!

    Thank you,

  4. Even wired in series will not the two four ohm systems still "behave" the same with regard to impedence dips as the audio signal is AC and each box is still using it's own crossover? Please bear with me as I am an auto mechanic by trade and have a hard time thinking in terms of AC rather than DC.

    Thanks to everyone again,

  5. gentlemen,at the risk of beating a dead horse,I am still in the dark. My amplifier has both an 8ohm as well as a 4ohm tap. I understand that these represent different points on the secondary windings, thus presenting a more appropriate load for the output stage. My concern is when one deviates from the "assigned" taps what goes on with the transformer, power tubes etc. with the resulting change in current flow.My knowledge of tube audio circuits is extremely basic.I am unable to visualize what goes on upstream, so to speak. My amp is the JJ Electronics 828, KT88 based integrated.

Thank you for all your insightful feedback.

  6. Dear Mr. Albright,

Thank you for your response. I still have a question, however. What does "safer for the amp" mean in terms of negative results? In other words, what's the worst case scenario driving a 4 ohm load with 8 ohm taps? Could doing this, over time, readily degrade or compromise the amplifier's circuitry in any way that may not be readily apparent.

    Thank you for your time.

  7. Hello,

Could anyone please tell me if running a pair of Heresy II's, which are the type rated 4 ohm nominal impedence, using the 8 ohm taps of my tubeamp could damage either the speakers or the amp? I have done so briefly at moderately loud volume levels to compare the difference in sound. However, I am concerned as to whether this is a 'sound' thing to do. If it is a bad idea and someone knowledgeable has the time please explain why.

    Thank you for your time.

  8. Dear Klipsch Forum Family,

Have been reading and enjoying your dialogues for some time, however, this is my first post and unfortunately a non-Klipsch inquiry.

What would one expect to pay for the following in today's market:

    2 JBL 175/1217/1290 horns
    2 JBL 130A woofers
    2 JBL N1200 crossovers
    owner's manuals for above
    all in mint condition

Any feed-back or thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. (I have a chance to buy these - need REAL WORLD input not e-bay)

Also have 2 pair of Heresy II (all wood boxes), one pair Heresy metal lens tweeter I am considering for sale. If this is inappropriate (using this location as a "classified") then please enlighten me as to appropriate venue.

By the way, all the above mentioned Heresys are sequentially numbered, respectively.

If interested in the Heresys you may e-mail me at

Thank you for your consideration and a wonderful forum.

    Respectfully,
