  1. yes it's dead unfortunately. the unit already had issues with some of the potentiometers broken etc.. got a refund from the seller without the need to return
  2. yes, very little smoke and smell of solder, burn marks on the power supply which is a separate unit that can be replaced, but I don't have the means to assess the full damage. i nany case though I am very happy with my Emotiva, it's crisp, easy to use and has just the right amount of input options. Currently running my latent MD player through it and it sings! better than CD if you ask me
  3. I just don't know what those are called.
  4. Ah yes I see you're from MD. The grils do not have the Klipsch insignia on them and are pretty filthy, any way to clean them? seems like these babies have been left in a basement and gathered some spiderwebs here and there, haven't opened the backs yet, and kinda scared to find it infested.
  5. aren't those just spade connectors?
  6. Strangely the Preamp didn't have fuse.. who makes these without fuse I have no idea.
  7. do you use the binding posts as is or have like an intermediary connector attached to the BPs ?
  8. I mean I don't really care about looks much, just wanted to see if it is cost effective I'd certainly would like to bring them back to their 1975 glory.
  9. Well, it's on the left front side of the speaker and I have no wall on the left side of my listening space
  10. Thank you so much, this is very helpful. What would you suggest in terms of the giant chip on the side? Should I just leave it be and accept it as my imperfectly perfect friend?
  11. any advice on the connectors, crossovers? DIY stands?
  12. the second I saw the ring, I fell in love. it was as if the Cronwalls were proposing to me
  13. I have Emotiva for preamp. My ONKYO P304 burned as I accidentally plugged it in to step up transformer's 220v I have been using for my EURO Genelecs.
  14. thank you! picking up tomorrow, hooking up to my M504, fingers crossed it is a good, age appropriate match.
  15. I just paid $900 for a pair of 1975 Cornwalls. I listened to them from a rather weak amp but it was still singing. the owner said his relative gifted it to him 2 years ago and it was taking up too much space. There is a 1inch chip on one side that is deeper than the Veneer. I wasn't sure if I should buy it, but realized finding a heritage Klipsch 10 minutes away while I was looking to find Forte or Chorus was a sign, so I pulled the trigger. The color is C-WO (oiled walnut?) What are the things I should look into when I bring this baby home? Did I get a deal or was it a ripoff?
