Hello, I have some questions. I built this crossover network and did some other mods to the speaker. I kept one speaker stock. The modded one also has a Crites titanium tweeter and a tractrix horn for the tweeter. I measured both of them, outside, with the mic at 2 meters. As you'll see in the REW file I will share, there was some cancelation around the mid/woofer crossover point. I inverted the polarity of the mid driver and it got rid of that. The thing is, there is also some null all along the mid frequencies that weren't there with the stock components. These nulls seem to be pretty high Q so if you smooth the data, the nulls disappears so I don't know if they can really be heard. Still, does anybody have some explanation or can help?

Hello guys. I decided I'm gonna build this network but there's just one thing I'm not sure I understand. In the Woofer section of the schematics, the "0.66mh" and the "6.8 ohms". Are those the measurments for the woofer coil or are they parts I need to add?

Black sharpie and Watco Rejuvenating oil?
I think the damage is too much to be fixed by a black sharpie. I'd also maybe like to change the color.

Hello, I'm wondering if the veneer is thick enough to be sanded if I wanted to change the color? If not, could I just lightly sand it and apply some new stain of the same color(black)?

Hello,
I'm wondering if anybody ever tried to fit the horn of the P Audio PHT-409 on a Forté II? From what I can see, the horn seems almost identical to the Forté III horn. I'm especially wondering if I could fit the original driver/magnet with the crites titanium diaphragm on the PHT-409 horn? Anybody tried that?

Thanks I will consider these.I used the Crites titanium diaphragms for my Chorus II speakers. They were nice, but if I had to do it again I would use this brand. This brand was great in my Heresy speakers; much better than a titanium upgrade.

Thanks for the answer. I will actually upgrade and buy the ALK crossover.Ive had both and really like the sound out of the klipsch drivers over the others, just a tad little sizzle from them after 40 or more hours of playing them.
The KI and some of the kpt lines used the titanium drivers and never had any problems with them. Sure people would ***** about blowing them, but when you do stupid things like have the power turned all the way up when you turn the system on is just stupid
If you use them and take care not to over driver them, then you in the sweet spot with them. If these are older speakers ( over 10 years ) I would replace the caps on the crossovers. That way you know that the drivers are only getting what they should be getting. -
Hello,
I am planning to change the tweeter diaphragms on my Forté IIs. I'm wondering if anyone know which is better between the Crites tweeter and the Klipsch titanium tweeter(from simplyspeakers.com)?

Doesn't ALK still do business? Why don't you just buy it from him?

Well, according to the specs, the RP-8000F DOES play 3Hz lower than a Forte. I find that kind of surprising considering the price difference between the two speakers. Yeah; the Forte has such a vaunted history and reputation, yet a much less expensive Klipsch speaker either equals or out-performs it. Go figure.
Honestly, I'm beginning to think the marketers have the two speakers for the following reason: The Forte presents the image of a "traditional" speaker with a larger cabinet and typical, larger drivers. The RP-series and similar floorstanders present a smaller visual footprint and get more WAF in our homes of today.
Actually, the Forté II and the RP-8000F are both rated at 32hz to 20khz +/-3db. The forté loses some db under about 80hz though so maybe that's why it seems to have less bass. It is also more calibrated for extra SPL and less distortion vs the RP-8000F. The whole midrange is clearly better in the Forté though and like Paul Klipsch once said, "We live in the midrange".

While I don't have experience with both speakers, I have been pondering a question regarding both.
What's the difference between in performance between the dual, smaller woofer RP-8000F and the single woofer Forte? If you calculate the square area of each model's woofers, the Forte has 13 square inches more surface area. That should count for something, no?
The bass is really different between the two. The RP-8000F feels like it digs deeper though. It's hard to describe but the bass feels really different between the two.

RP-8000F vs Forté II
Hello,
I have both models and I'm wondering, for people who actually heard both, which of these two do you prefer?
While both are very good, I think I like the Forté II a bit better. I have not heard a lot of speakers so it's hard to say why I like them better. They are completely different beasts. I'm just curious of your opinions.

I'm talking about the Forté II ALK crossover design. It is different from his universal design. In the stock xover, the mid has inverted polarity but not in ALK's design.
