  1. i'm thinking about getting a pair of RS-42's, one thing, i need to put them 8' up the wall instead of at around 5-6'. they will be 10' from the target area on both sides. will they work that high up? i know i should probably go larger, but i need to work my partner to this level first.

    thanks,

  2. at the moment, it is on its side. the problem is that it doesn't fit under the table that supports the set. it sticks out into the room about 1.5 feet or more than the LR speakers(also heresies). the set is a Sony KDS-60A3000, it needs to be on a low stand for it to look its best so i don't want have it any higher up. i'd also like to keep the horns horizontal to keep imaging consistent. that being said, it does sound great as it is...i still would like to clean up the appearance and eliminate some possible issues that come with the present speaker placement,

    thanks,

    chels

  3. it's 5.1 all heresies but the sub. i would think that in my case a center channel made from a heresy would be the better direction. if one could fit under the stand, i'd leave it as it is...at the moment it sticks the depth of a heresy out into the room and is probably at least that much in front of the left and right speakers.

    thanks again,

    chels

  4. hey yall,

i just bought a Sony KDS 60A3000 for xmas and need a stand that is heresy friendly. if possible i'd like to keep the heresy verticle to preserve dispertion.

i also would like to keep the tv as low as possible. i haven't seen anything yet that fits the bill.

    thanks,

    chels

  5. i agree, in fact i have Heresies in the back. i am concerned that where the surrounds are positioned that a di/bipole might work better. i am also considering KS-525's.

i have Heresies because i like the way they sound as opposed to Ref series, but they're being used in a surround system and because of the room shape, maybe some other speaker might work.

  6. i was wondering if RS's would be OK with RCL Heresies? i have Heresies for the back, but i'm starting to wonder if RS's would work better in my room. my seating position is 4' below and 6-7' from the surround Heresies.

    thanks

  7. MJ is actually one of the "Greys" (the aliens actually running our planet) his "They Live" mask is slowly dissolving from acid rain!

Conan rocks! i think that time slot can lead to funnier shows, as O'Brien points out, nobody is watching.

i'll take the masturbating bear over anything Letterman or Leno can foist upon us.

  8. more stuff:

XTC-Nonesuch-Hooray for Peter Pumpkinhead! i love "Books Are Burning"

The Band- Music From Big Pink-i love anything that makes Clapton pass out!

Dylan-Bringing It All Back Home- Wow! excellent job sounds wonderful.

Shane MacGowan & the Popes-The Snake-did anyone else see the documentery "If I Should Fall From Grace" on Sundance channel the other night? what a mess! i love this guy! (first person to guess the number of teeth he has left wins the big, big prize!)

    Van Morrison-Astral Weeks- my lulliby

Lou Reed-Take No Prisoners- my comedy album...got a ticket once speeding listening to "Sattelite of Love"

    Rockpile-Seconds of Pleasure-

Replacements-Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash-all i can say is Bob Stinson in a diaper

Pete Townsend & Ronnie Lane-Rough Mix-i forgot how good this is-i miss Ronnie Lane

should i mention the multi-channel disc by Zappa, Halloween?

  9. Steve Earle- All American Boy-great cover of "What's So Funny 'Bout Peace, Love & Understanding.

Buddy & Julie Miller-great music from very talented people who seem to exceed their individual parts

    Ryan Adams-Gold-a guilty pleasure

Govt Mule-Dose- Warren Haynes and Matt Abbs are phenomenal

Cowboy Junkies-Open-geez..are the the same guys who did Trinity Sessions? huge guitar album

Richard Thompson-Old Kit Bag -quality work from one of my fave geetarists. i have to work hard not to see him as a yuppie/NPR icon though.

Rancid-Life Won't Wait- i know that the hardcore folks think that this is a "soft" album, i think that it's way more than that. god, even punk has to grow up!

Lonesome Bob- Things Change - what a voice! with something to say, also.

Drive By Truckers-Southern Rock Opera- can't say much that isn't obvious about this album, alot smarter than you'd think.

Continental Drifters-Vermillion- a better album than "Better Day", and that's saying alot. maybe because when i first got this album, i didn't know Susan Cowsills hadn't left the band.

    Reissues:

Flaming Groovies-Teenage Head- ****in' great album, verrrry coool.

Let's Active-Big Plans For Everybody, Cypress/Afoot- BPFE was essentially a Mitch Easter solo album-everybody bailed after a European tour. still a great album that still moves me nearly 20 years later. Cypress/Afoot is a combination of album and EP pre BPFE. still great stuff from a great pop mind.

don't ask me about my old stuff i play.

    (i'll mention one album-Mott the Hoople-Mott-wonderful album)

other new stuff-Tabla Beat Science, Hot Hot Heat, Polyphonic Spree...

will somebody stage a raid and rescue Tommy Stinson from the "new" Guns N Roses?

  10. the DTS is somehow related to the DVDA? i was thinking that because the Dolby Digital came through the optical, the DTS would also(like it does with DVD's)

might as well ask this now, how come manufacturers won't bite the bullet and do SACD and DVDA at the reciever like the do everything else? i know that they are waiting for a winner in the format wars. unless there is a reason like too much bandwith for optical or coax, wouldn't this solve alot of problems?

  11. i finally got a multi channel recording (Pet Sounds) today and tried playing it on my HT system. i have a Panny CP72 changer and a H/K 325 reciever with TOS/link for the digital signal. i know that i have to have analog hook ups for dvda multi channel, but how come i can't get the DTS 5.1 to work...i can get Dolby Digital to work, but not the DTS. i tried both bitstream and PCM settings for DTS on the CP72, but to no avail. is this a bandwith issue? i have used the DTS audio before, so i know it works...maybe i didn't read my manuals closly enough?

    thanks

  12. folks, i think it is guns before butter...and guns before education and guns before healthcare....the military and suppliers for the military have made out like bandits lately and after demanding that no child be left behind, W promply turned his back on them.

could the current Iraq war be Karma for W, for going AWOL during Viet Nam? i think it would only be fair if all National Guardsmen would duck out on their last year.
