  1. he probably did say crossover ... it was a long conversation and I'm not very technical. will look at those options. someone also recommended getting a minidsp. whatever works.
  2. I may have posted a while back on my search for a sub for my new La Scala's. Got a lot of love for Rythmik so I looked into them. Spoke with Brian at the company. He said that he couldn't recommend ANY Rythmik subs because La Scalas are so hard to match. The bass response (I'm pretty much a beginner and very not technical) is set at 40, not the more textbook 60, which makes them a ***** to match. I'm sure you guys all know that. The only way it would work, he said, is if your room happens to be the right size and shape. Also said he gets far more returns from Klipsch horn owners than any other speaker, for this reason. I may try some Rel's, since they apparently have an audition program. But it's depressing. I love the speakers, but miss the fast, powerful bass I had with my Paradigm Founder 120Hs. I know it's just one guy's opinion, but he makes the f'in subs and wouldn't sell me one.
  3. I have a front room that is mostly open on two sides, the left and behind the listener. openings are approximately 8' wide by 7' high. have my new la scala's in the "corners" and am thinking of some acoustic treatments. to me, they sound great right now, with little echo or brightness, but honestly I idon't have a lot of experience with how rooms should sound. I've heard great things about acoustic treatments and wanted to check them out. will look at wall and corner options as well, but wondering if I should get a foldable acoustic screen to block off the opening to the left and maybe behind me. I like to listen at night, when kids are doing homework upstairs, so will help with that too. got to be foldable so can be moved aside during the day. I don't have many other room options in the house right now. if anyone has a recommendation on how to approach, what brands might work (not really a diy guy), would be much appreciated. also wondering if I should invest in some kind of sound-deadening curtains (I have 3 windows to the right you can't see, as well).
  4. thanks! will check out the suggestions. if anyone's pairing la scala's with rhythmics, would love to hear about them.
  5. I know this topic has been covered here in the past, but wondering what the latest advice is for subwoofers for new La Scalas. Right now leaning toward some RSL Speedwoofers or some Rythmiks, but even there not sure what to get. Am going to get an SPL meter as well. The La Scalas are paired with a Pioneer SX-780 right now; I have a Decware Zen Triode on order. The room is large, not sealed. I play loud, mostly rock, country and classical. Thanks.
