  1. When you enabled CMSS, you'll have to change the volume balance slider from the front to the middle (should read 0%), which will equally distribute the sound between the front and rear channels.
  2. Purchased a brand new set of Klipsch ProMedia 4.1's from a Klipsch Authorized Dealer up here in Canada for Christmas 2002. On that set of PM 4.1's, I exhibited low-level interference and static on every audio file, whether MP3, WMA, CD, DVD-Audio. You name it, there was static in the background on these speakers. The audio files themselves check, as I've tested them on another PC with an Altec Lansing 621 set of speakers and they check out perfectly fine. I changed from my SB Audigy 2 Platinum over to my onboard Crystal Media chip... no go. Still interference. I tried changing to monster cables. No difference. Cleaned the headphone jacks with rubbing alcohol. No difference. Finally, after 11 months of headaches and frustration, I called Klipsch returns and exchanged my set of 4.1's for another brand-new set of PM 4.1's. Using the same audio files, computer system, sound card and cables, the speakers worked great for the last 10 days. All of sudden, this set has developed 2 problems. 1) The same low-level interference and static is exhibited on every audio file. 2) Whether or not the speakers are engaged (green LED) or in standby (red LED), I can hear a low-pitched static and interference coming from all 4 satellites. Turning down the volume knob on the control pod doesn't help. Turning down the system volume in the Audigy 2 software doesn't help. Yes, I've changed cables, sound cards and cleaning the plugs with alcohol. No dice. I'm at my wits end here. I'm in love with the acoustic abilities of the Klipsch speakers, but this is 2 sets that had exhibited problems from the start and I'm not really enthusiastic of having to return for a 3rd set, let alone the $300+ CDN I was charged for the speakers in the first place. For something so expensive, one would assume that high-quality would be assured. Any suggestions? Time to RMA this set as well?
  3. I had the same problem with my first set of Klipsch ProMedia 4.1's. After speaking with 3 different technical support individuals, the inevitable conclusion was to try the following: 1) Clean the 1/8" mini-plugs that attach to the rear of the satellites with rubbing alcohol. Make sure to clean them quite thoroughly. If that doesn't remedy your problem, it sounds like there is a problem with your subwoofer. Return them to Klipsch for replacement. You can contact Klipschs' Return Department @ 1-866-253-9563, option 8. My 1st set of PM4.1's were manufacturered during 10/2001. Maybe there was something wrong with that batch.
  4. I used to use the Audigy 1 (original) and found that it had skipping & popping problems with all types of recordings (and during game play). For that reason, I recommend staying away from the Audigy 1. I now use an Audigy 2 Platinum (just installed it an hour ago) and the sound is terrific. If you don't want all the bells & whistles, purchase the Audigy 2 (not the Platinum version, just the regular version) and be happy as a clam!
  5. I hate to mention it, but I've got the same problem. Distortion at low levels... The only way I've been able to remove it is to turn up the Main Volume & use the system volume control to reduce the volume. I just purchased these speakers (PM 4.1, NON-Refurb) from Canada Computers in Markham, Ontario, Canada (licensed Klipsch Reseller). I would HATE to have to think that I have to return my brand new, never been opened speakers after 72 hours of operation....
