  1. Good morning to all. When I try to upload my pictures I get this error message " An error occurred uploading a file: file extension is not allowed or doesn't exist". The files are jpeg and approx 88,000 bytes. Its a simple process, you select attach file, hit the browse button and then select which picture from your picture file. What could be going wrong? Thanks Guy
  2. I have to echo D-MAN's W-T-F!!!
  3. Hey Jeff, How are you at building semi false corners . Just kidding, it would be nice to get together. I think its my turn to come over to your place and see that Home Theater Deluxe I keep hearing and reading about
  4. Thanks Frzninvt, If you don't mind I will message you down the road for that info. I better seal them and enjoy (listen) them for a while before I do crossover mods. I'm afraid I jumped the gun here
  5. Hi sheltie dave, My system at the moment is done to bare bones. Cayin TA 30, el 34 push pull amp. 30 watts, I can pull out two el 34's and change it to a 4 watt set amp. Pioneer DV-444 and better cables. My next purchase will be a Bel Canto Dac 2. I have had one before and loved the way it sounded and sold it two quick.
  6. Your absolutely right. First is to get the semi false corners done and than worry about crossovers etc. etc.
  7. Hi Guys, I have tinkered a little more with my Khorns. With my new found information from you guys. If you recall my left speaker is in a corner but not sealed (yet) very well. My right speaker has a wall on its left and a banister on its right. Well I couldn't wait when I brought them home. I had a 4x8 sheet of 3/4" plywood with acoustic foam (egg crate) on one side. I nailed it against the banister (it is going to be replaced anyway) with the foam side in towards the speaker for a good seal. After reading the thread here on sealing Khorns I flipped it around tonight with the plywood side towards the speaker. Now I know its not sealed like it should be but boy WHAT a difference it made . I now have bass, and the horns are starting to shine. I now have an idea what they will sound like with the semi false corners . I had a long talk with Steve today at Klipsch and my speakers are 1985's with the M midrange made by electro voice and the AK-2 crossovers. Steve spent alot of time with me (what a great guy) and explained how I could change a couple of things on my crossovers for about $60.00 and convert my AK-2's to AK-3's. Steve said I would get a 2 db bump in the mids and perhaps a little thiner bass??? Any of you pros have thoughts on this change?
  8. Thanks all, After talking with Steve at Klipsch we are almost sure these are 1985 vintage . The ak-2 crossovers were quite the discussion with Steve. I got way to much information for now . I will have to post later about the 2 db supressed midrange on this crossover. Steve was telling me to switch a couple of things and turn this crossover into a AK-3.
  9. Thanks Frzninvt, but the numbers are all very clear. I will call klipsch today and talk with Steve. They have metal horns, ak-2 crossovers and Paul Park inspected them. I am hoping this will be enough to find out what year they are.
  10. Gary, thank you. I think I have finally got it.
  11. HI Gary, Great pictures. Would it be possible to get you to post a picture of the bottom half of the rear of your khorn? My tail board narrows at the bottom and I am trying to get an idea of how you guys deal with that. Thanks and all the best, Guy
  12. HDBRbuilder, thanks for all of the great advice. garyd9 great pictures! I think I will do the same as you with the mdf. I have one last question....On my tail board and I assume it is the same on all khorns, oh about 6"s from the bottom it narrows by a about an inch or two on each side. Are you guys sealing that to the wall as well? What I mean is if the tail board was the same width all the way down it would be easy to seal. Am I missing something here?
  13. No problem at all jazman, I would have done the same thing if the situation was reversed. sheltie dave I will have to start a topic in the next week or two (after the khorns are some what dialed in) asking for recomended khorn cd's
  14. "Congrats again, but, Are you kidding me? This post does not have a word about how they sound. Did you buy Khorns for $600 to worry about how they look? What am I missing here?" Jazman take a breath, WOW . I thought the smart thing to do here was to seal them in the corner first so the bass wasn't so boomy, and then do a review. The left speaker is in a good corner and the right speaker in not. I need to build a half wall about 6' long. One side of the right speaker is against a banister. My short review at this point would be everything works fine. Some tunes sound wonderful, some have very boomy bass and some don't have much bass at all. Over all I am VERY happy (excited) with the khorns. They are absolutely perfect for our game room. On top of that my wife loves them and she has seen many a speaker come through the house. Personally I am very tired of the audio merry-go-round! The coolness of these speakers with there heritage and sound is off the meter. We are in the midst of remodeling our game room so ascetics are important so we can finish the room. Life is good, Guy
  15. Davewsc, I understand I have that page for the Klipsch serial numbers. But I assure you those are the numbers and they skip a number as well! The cross overs are AK-2's and Paul Park was the guy who inspected them I guess I will call Klipsch again
  16. Thanks HDBR, I did see that thread but didn't want to steal it and it didn't address my question. Would the acoustic foam hurt the bass response. It certainly would seal the corner.
  17. I am having a little trouble getting my khorns to seal in the corner. whether the walls aren't square or the carpet tips the speaker I'm not sure. But it makes for some boomy bass. My question is....Would acoustic foam (the kind that looks like egg crates) Place on the wall from the corner to the front of each side of the speaker and to the top of the LF cab. do the trick. I have some 4x8 sheets left over from sound proofing our music studio. Thanks, Guy
  18. Thanks Bill, We have Oxy Clean and I will try it today. Yes I am talking about wood stain. After I get the wood repaired and sanded I will start the process of looking at different stains.
  19. I just brought the horns home this morning and the cain grill cloth is stained bad on one of the horns and needs to be replaced. Some of the trim veneer is chiped and cracked off. Next week end I will start replacing or filling the wood and then sanding. Order black grill cloth, not looking forward to that job. I am thinking of a light black stain so the grain will show through. Don't think I have a whole lot of options. For six hundred dollars I am as happy as when I bought my Cayin amp. I will borrow my friends digital camera this week and post pictures. Buy the way my serial numbers are KBBR - 6506683, 6506685. I have been trying to find out when these horns were built. After calling Steve at Klipsch he thought that the third digit the 0 was proably a g or d, but it is clearly a 7 digit number. My crossovers are ak 2's does anybody have an idea as to the year of these Khorns? Thanks Guy
  20. Good Morning, I have read here many times about the difficultly matching amps and preamps to Khorns. I can tell you my Cayin TA 30 is DEAD quiet with Khorns .
  21. Davewsc, very nice horns. I will wait a week or two. I just brought the horns home this morning and the cain grill cloth is stained bad on one of the horns and needs to be replaced. Some of the trim venear (spelling?) is cracked off. Next week end I will start replacing or filling the wood and then sanding. Order black grill cloth (not looking forward to that job . I am thinking of a light black stain so the grain will show through. Don't think I have a whole lot of options. I will borrow my friends digital camera this week and post pictures. 22. I also love my Cayin TA 30. I am runing my Khorns with it as I type. Mine is also the fully upgraded version. Absolutely can't beat it for the price, one of the biggest bangs for the buck in Audio. Wow did I just say that, whew. check out 2baudio.com and ask for Paul he is one of the best guys to work with.
  23. T minus 30 minutes and I'm out the door . Will post pics of the new kids.
  24. Ok... I think there going straight into the room. I can do a light sanding there when needed and if we decide a light black stain would be cool, I can figure out a way to get it done upstairs . I will start a new thread on Sat. with pictures.
  25. Hey Budman54, Your right, but my pool table is black and I have a black leather sofa in the game room so black khorns would be nice. I just got off the phone with the guy selling me the speakers (hes 60), getting directions. He said all they need is a light sanding due to the age of the wood and a light stain and they would be perfect. He told me the one inch water stain on the bottom of the right speaker is barely noticeable . I was thinking a light black stain perhaps. what do you think?
