  1. I tried looking for some threads. I guess I'll have to look again. I know there not worth what the seller wants for them. But I didn't know exactly how low..Thanks.
  2. Hey all, I've frequented this board on and off when ever I needed some info, and I was wondering what you think of these. There's a pair of old khorns on ebay outside chicago. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5723054416&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT My father owns a pair of khorns that I have been spoiled with for a long time. I've grown quite fond of these speakers and am moving soon, can't bear to listen to music without them. I am wondering what you would think a fair value on these would be. They look like they need a lot of veneer work as well as missing the side panels. The cosmetics of the bin's do not really concern me. I plan on experimenting with speaker matching, etc anyways so my main concern is the actual bass horn. The crossovers would go for some alk's, and the components are all working. I live in chicago and would really like to ****** up a pair of these speakers before I move. Any advice? Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks for the input. Thats what I wanted to hear. I am not too familiar with biamping and was previously reading an indepth article on it..I will stick with just DIYing my xover..
  4. Just wondering if any of you have done this to your Khorns, and if so how does it sound? (in relation to a standard SET/PP through the passive xover (ALK,AA) I'm planning on building two sets of amps from Bottlehead, one being the Parmour SET monoblocs, along with later building from scratch a set of PP.. If I were to bi amp the SET blocs to my squaker and tweeter and PP to the Bass bin, thereby breaking up the existing xover to a high pass and low pass, could someone explain what pros and cons would be for this set up? Would it be even worth my time to to do so, or just drive my setup with a pair of mono SET amps and the existing AA/ALK xover? Thanks..
  5. Thanks for the link John. I like those cross braces in the bin..I was originally planning on doubling the thickness of the sidewalls to an Inch and a half, but now I will probably do that.. As far as the building is concerned, I plan on just building the cabinet and crossovers...More or less likely going to try and find an old beat up pair of laSca's around my area and change the components.. BTW, what size is the squawker in them... Is is a 12" or a 21"..Not the driver, but the horn itself..thanks all.
  6. Heh, Yeah I figured that would be the only logical place for it... As for searching the forums, I have scoured over them for the past three weeks finding any info possible on these speakers..I was kinda mad though, the schematics on them didn't tell me anything about the panel and it was in german as well I plan on grabing my wood tomorrow and having the cabinets done by the start of the week so I was hoping to find a quick answer on this..Thanks.
  7. Would any of you be able to help me out? I am attempting to build a pair of LaSca's from scratch..I have the schematics for them but I cannot figure out for the life of me where your access point would be for the woofer enclosure..My Khorns seem identical in the woofer horn layout, with the exception of the driver focus running through the back of the box..The access panel on the Khorns is along that V-angle in the back, but I plan on not making any grill for the front of the LaSca's...So, the only thing I can think of is having the access panel on the bottom? I have never seen these speakers before, with exception to pictures (usually only showing the front) Could anyone that owns a pair of these give me a hand..IE tips on foresight with the downfaults of them, and the location of the woofer panel...Any information would be greatly appreciated.. BTW, I will post pic's when I'm finished. I plan on doing a multiple stain cabinet...Wish me Luck
