  1. Hmmm... I was hoping you would say the opposite. Judging from the results of Home Theater Magazine's Mike Wood in his article "Face Off: Surround-Speaker-Configuration Wars" (http://www.hometheatermag.com/loudspeakers/25/index.html) I was thinking it would be best to throw the mono Quintets up for the sides and utilize the WDST for the backs. Can anybody else weigh in on this subject?
  2. Finally making the jump from 5.1 to 7.1 with the purchase of my new RS-3II's. These will be complimenting my Ref.-3II fronts and center and the Quintets I was previously using for rear surrounds. I'm pretty sure I'll be placing the RS-3's in the back and moving the Quintets to the sides, but I was wondering what experiences/opinions everybody out there has had with this similar situation. Thanks in advance, your advice is always most appreciated. LoLo.
  3. Hey everybody, I am thinking of upgrading my center channel from an RC-3II to an RC-7. I was wondering if the RC-7 would overpower my RF-3II mains? I watch a lot of movies and the RC-7 sounds like it would be right up my alley. Just wondering if anybody has tried/heard this or a similar setup. Thanks in advance for any feedback. -LoLo
  4. I've recently been toying with the notion of adding an external Equalizer to my reciever to imporve tone control. Wondering if anybody out there can share their advice/experiences dealing with these. I've noticed that SVS offers two EQs on their site, are those strictly to tune the sub only, or does it control the whole system?
  5. A buddy of mine has the 1075, it is a decent entry level HT amp. Check out the parasound hca-1205 though, for the same price you get more power and a much more detailed sense of dynamics. The Rotel seems to have, for lack of a better term, a bit of a "muddy" sound character to it. Just my opinion for whatever it's worth.
  6. I found a great deal on the 701 I couldn't pass up so I jumped on it. WHAT A MISTAKE!!! I gave it a week to see if the dry, lifeless sound would ever open up my RF-3s. By day 5 I couldn't take it any longer so I gave it away as a xmas present and went and bought the 3803. IMHO you can't find a better sound per price value of the 3803 anywhere short of going for separates!
  7. Hey Decker, what in the heck is ISFed...? What does that do for ya?
  8. The ol' Denon just isn't cutting it in it's preamp/processing duties any more. Would like to step up to a 7.1 pre/pro that would mate well with the Parasound and my Ref-3s. Any experiences and/or advice would be much appreciated.
  9. Time for the KSW 12 to rest in peace, was wondering if anyone can shed some light as to which of these comparably priced subs sounds better?
  10. Man, all this hype over Halo.... has anyone actually even heard Parasound's new line of products with their Klipsch(s) yet?
  11. Wondering if anybody out there can relate how well their Klipsch reference series speakers mate with Bryston power amps. Thanks for any input.
  12. Wondering if anyone has been able to compare side to side. Also debating whether to drop the extra $$$ to get the CS ultra over the plus. Does the ultra really boom the plus into the dirt? Should mention my accompanying speakers are all ref. 3 series so I'm looking for some thunder, and I have (for now) ruled out the RSW series. Thanks for all input.
  13. Just curious if anybody has heard how well these amps blend into the "Klipsch" sound.
  14. Hmmm... very interesting Dave, I never quite considered the Denon garbage, but then again I have never really had the chance to compare it straight up to a separte pre/pro. The 1205 was/is at the top of my list as Kain suggests, but you bring up an interesting point in saying that the amp paired with the Denon doesn't bring significant sonic improvement. Has anybody out there found a good amplifier match for the aforementioned Denon and Ref-3s...? As of now the para-1205 and rotel-1075 and their accompanying "warm-ish" sounds are heading the list due to the bang-for-buck value of each. Would love to hear from anybody who can relate. Thanx again all.
  15. Just blew my wad and purchased a new set of reference 3s. These have integrated wonderfully with my Denon 3803, but I just have this feeling that a separate multi-channel would do these new speakers more justice. With such great sesitivity on these BadBoys I was looking to stay in the 150WPC realm. So far I have considered Rotel, Outlaw, Parasound, Proceed, and Odyssey. I was wondering about, and would be most appreciative of any feedback and/or experiences y'all have had matching amps with the Ref-3 series. Thanx ahead of time for any input
