  1. Hi people! I'm in need of a receiver and have landed on either an Onkyo tx-nr686 or the tx-rz830. I've seen the spec sheets and seen that they do a certain amount of watts for ohm rating from 4 to 6 to 8. On the other hand, i've seen a couple of setup menu videos where its only possible to set speaker impedance to either 4 or 6 ohm. Seeing as my klipsch speakers are rated to 8 ohm, would I have a problem with these Onkyo receivers?
  2. Hi! I am building a home theater system (7.2), and time has come for me to choose a receiver. It should be mentioned that I am a newbie and learning as I go. From what i've gathered, its really important that your receiver delivers the right amount of wattage required by the speaker at the correct ohm. My system consists of the top of the RP line, and it would seem that every speaker are within their watt cont/peak at 150/400w at 8 ohm. My problem with this is that I can't find any receivers at all that even supports at least 150w at 8 ohm per channel, and these receivers are around the 3000$ mark. Am I going about this "Receiver-speaker-wattage"-thing wrong or am I just in the wrong price class?
  3. Hi, my Onkyo receiver has required service twice in the past year. The service center (recommended by Onkyo) says the center channel died during the first outage, and I should have my center speaker checked. After the receiver died again, I took in the old center channel, a 8 ohm Synergy C1, and they said the ohm reading was low, and that I should replace it. I tested it on my multimeter at home and it registered 3.8 ohms. I just bought a new 8 ohm RP-250C and it registers 3.2 ohms. Should they be registering near 8 ohms? I'm testing by touching the leads to the respective black and red terminals on the units (not opening them up).
