whamo Posted December 30, 2008 Share Posted December 30, 2008 Hey all. I've been looking at my lighting setup. It's rudimetary. Anyways I've been reading up and researching DMX. From what I understand I need a controller and if I were to use standard incandescant par cans I would need a dimmer pack as well. I was thinking why not ditch the par cans and upgrade to the new LED ones then I wouldn't need a dimmer pack. That is correct right? What are some good controllers to look at? colterphoto1 Posted December 30, 2008 Share Posted December 30, 2008 Mark, the LED light cans don't have much throw and the colors are funky to my eyes. They will provide a wide wash for DJ type applications, but are no substitute for a good PAR setup imho. Kinda depends on what you're using them for, how much movement you want, how much system you can comfortably pack. Did you want a couple of monitors?
