lwbklipsch
Hi, My RF 83's generate static sort of noise that is coming out of horns. It is not loud or anything, you have to put your ear close to the horn to hear it. This is when receiver is not turned on. Turned on the receiver with volume all the way down and static became bit quieter, turned off and became louder again. Disconnected speaker cables, static remained. I placed the speaker in the middle of the room (all cabling disconnected) away from receiver, static much quieter but remains. I only have coax cable running behind the speaker, and receiver about a foot away. I was thinking that it might be interference but as I mentioned when I moved the speaker away it still remained. The second speaker also has static but it is less. Somebody told me that when I disconnected speaker cables I should not hear anything. Klipsch would not give any detail info, just said to bring it back to the store for warranty service. Does anybody have any input on this? It would be much appreciated. Thanks. DrWho
Wow, that's crazy...your speakers are making noise without being plugged in? Does it sound like a crackling kind of static, or more like white noise (like the sound when whispering, "shhhhhh")? I suppose it's possible that your inductors are picking up some kind of electromagnetic field and the speakers are efficient enough to make it audible. Are there any radio stations nearby, or anything else making high voltages? I would find it very curious if taking them back for warranty service would fix the problem unless Klipsch thinks there's something broke in the xover. TNRabbit
I had an RC64 on top of a LARGE Sony tube TV (34") and it would pick up static from the tube. Moved it and problem solved.
JoJoLuv
Maybe It's the" Sea shell effect" []
lwbklipsch
It is constant, not crackling. I will try to place it in a different room to see if it continues. If it does, I will assume something must be wrong with the speaker. If it doesn't, something in my living room must be causing it. There is nothing I can think of around that might cause it, like radio stations or high voltage lines. Thanks!
