Im currently building a new subwoofer and purchased the plate amp out of a Sub-12. Its the BASH amp that is rated at 600 W max. Before I purchase the woofer I need to know if the amp is rated at 8ohms or 4 ohms. Or if the amp is even 4ohms stable. I have serched the net and cant find anthing. I even called Klipsch tech line and they couldn't tell me.

To asked the same question a different way, the woofer that comes in the Sub-12; is that woofer 8ohm, 4ohm, or anything else? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just dont want to buy a 8ohm sub and find out the amp is rated at 4ohms. I would only get around 150W RMS. I plan on getting the PE Reference 12. I've heard good things and understand they are pretty flexible as far as enclosures go.

Thanks

Did you buy it off Ebay from the guy who is selling sub-12 plate amps for $79.00?

I bought one of those - built a cornscala bass bin - put in a Klipsch 15" woofer and it makes my Khorns sound so much fuller with the added bass.

The woofer is 4 ohms (I think) and it works just fine (I think)

Yup, I bet I got it from the same guy off ebay. So your saying the woofer your using is a 4 ohm? The enclosure I built will be just over 2 CF with the woofer and amp installed. I'm going with a sealed enclosure first and see what performance I get out of it. If Im not happy with it sealed, I'll have to port it. If always been partial to sealed enclosures, I've just never built one for home audio use.

Yes, I believe the woofer is 4 ohms. I visited Bob Crites a couple of weeks ago and he said something to the effect that the cornwall had one of the best bass responses of the Klipsch line. There was an entry on this site where he said that his cornscala bass bin was 24x24x24. I built mine that size. At the moment I'm satisfied with it.
