Cornwall Volume Change Question

I do appreciate the many variables which go into the design of ported speaker enclosures. I am looking for a simple answer to the act of increasing the enclosure volume and retuning the system to the original frequency. Would that INCREASE or DECREASE the bass response at resonance? I am guessing minor volume change would have minimum impact (maybe not even noticeable) and something like 50% increase would produce less bass due to lower driver loading. Thanks for your response.

Ported enclosures are tuned for a specific driver. Making small changes in internal volume while keeping the original driver will cause slight changes in audible performance, but may affect the power handling capability of the speaker at low frequencies in a bad way. Without knowing specifics, it would be impossible to predict any audible performance differences for large changes in enclosure internal volume.

Increasing the cab volume will lower the tune port frequency. I made up some numbers using this calculator for a 30hz tuned slot port to get a base line vent lenth. Then I added 1 foot to the volume. reran the calculator, the tuned feqency dropped to 27hz.

you can use this calculator to estimate the changes to the sloted vent lenth to return the tune back to 30hz.
