daves12345
I'm going for a 7.1 setup. I've got 2 KSB 3.1's for my rear surrounds, 2 Kg 3.5's for my side surrounds, and a Kg 2.5 for my center channel. I'm thinking of a couple of different options. Not sure if I should go with the Kg 5.5's or the Kg 4.2's. I can get the 4.2's for cheaper, but want them to match with the center. I also have 2 of the 2.5's, so I could use those as the rear surrounds, and get rid of the Ksb 3.1's. Then I would need a new center channel. I'm on a tight budget, and want to get the most bang for my buck. Any help is appreciated.
RichardP
Your 2.5 will match the 5.5 ideally as a center (assuming there are no magnetic field issues with your TV and the unshielded 2.5). The 5.5s are nice and big, and will be great by themselves for stereo-only music. Rear and side match to front/center is less critical than front-center match. I have only heard 5.1 setups, and don't know if rear to front match is more critical than side to front, or even how much sound comes from rear vs. side. In summary, I say keep what you have and go for the 5.5s. My experience is they should go for no more than $400.
daves12345
That's what I was thinking. I think i'm gonna stick with the 5.5s. I'm using a crt projector, so no magnetic field issues.
