L33T
I have a budget of up to $1000, and I am thinking about buying either a new receiver that has pre-outs, or an amplifier. I currently own a pair of KG-4's. I listen to lossless music output via TOSLINK from a dedicated HTPC unit, but I also want to enjoy the AV experience. Right now I have a low-end Sony unit as a receiver (doesn't have pre-outs). I'm thinking of getting perhaps the H/K AVR-3600 or the MARANTZ 7100. Please advise; thank you! jamesV
Maybe I missed something. How can you get an external amp if you don't have a way to use it currently? Getting a receiver would be the best ideal of even separates, a Pre-Amp and Amp. If you don't mind used you should be able to get a really decent setup. What kind of equipment are you hooking up, to make sure the new unit will fit your needs. Also anything you are looking to get in the near future? Is this only for 2-channel or do you want to hook up more then 2 speakers. James I just took a look and you can get a Emotiva USP-1 for $417 and the Emotiva UPA-2 for $324. So for a total of $741 you can have a really nice setup. I personally haven't heard any of the Emotiva equipment but seen a lot of reviews with minimal complaints. L33T
Thank you for your reply! I am hoping to get a 5.1/7.1 setup by XMas as well, so it will have to be an A/B setup (KG-4 x2 for the 2ch setup, and another 5.1/7.1 setup).
