DrWho
A speaker only needs two conductors to work...but you can run four conductors inside a Neutrik cable. Depending on how the Neutrik jack is wired inside the subwoofer, either both sets of cables are getting parallel together, or only one of the pairs is actually connected to the subwoofer. One of the most common uses for the 4 conductor Neutrik is in the pro audio world so that you can run a single cable and power your tweeter and woofer separately for active xover scenarios. Everyone has different standards for whether the woofer is on pair 1 or pair 2. It doesn't hurt to run wires to both pairs since there's only one speaker in the cabinet, but if you're trying to repair/lengthen a cable, then running just two conductors is fine as well....just make sure you hook it up to the right pair. My guess is that Klipsch wired them in parallel inside the KW-120 so that the cable impedance could be cut in half by doubling up on the wire. It would also make it so that hooking up to either pair would work. Maybe someone from Klipsch will chime in and clarify. Or if you have a multimeter handy, then there's a pretty easy way to measure how it's wired too.
