how do i properly amp my kp 3002 at home?

Recommended Posts

am i just amping it wrong?

hi.

i have a pair of kp-3002 that i am running off my qsc rmx 1450 amp and running it all thru a dj mixer to listen to vinyl records.

one of the speakers sounds blown as far as i know to call it...the faintest wisper from the base speaker.

i get hi-s but now lows...well...VERY weak lows.

so weak that you can barely hear it at all.

i
check that it wasnt just a problem with one of the channels or 1/4 inch
plugs and switche each wire and plug to test them all.

it is a problem in the speaker.

so as to the advise on this thread i opend her up and checked all the wires and connecters...they seem to be fine.

i also examined the base speaker and it seems to be fine too...no holes or tears.

anymore help?

should i just get another amp?

how do i run a proper crossover(i dont understand this yet)?

i bought all three pieces for 300 from a store that was closing down.

thanks for the help fellas.

patrick

fuses are all good.

i look at the link.

seems a little advanced for me.

if i had the tools and a video to follow i would totally try to do it myself.

seems fun actually.

i cant wait to really get into the nuances of amping them and the whole sound culture.

first i must fix these and then get the base cabs(kp 4000) and really start going for it.

any other links/threads i should look at?

thanks again...opended my eyes.

patrick

so...it is not the woofer.

i swapped the known working woofer with the one that wasnt working.

when i put the woofer that "wasnt working" one the cab that was working it worked fine.

what does this tell me?

and i have also discovered that the speakers only sound good when the i turn the volume up.

at a low volume i cant hear my mids or lows well at all and the hi 's sound like its coming out of a tin can.

any solutions?

thanks fellas.

i'm assuming you already swapped speaker connections from your amp.....and you know for sure its not the amp?

following your method of trouble shooting, you should swap the connection plates whiich connects the speaker wires on the outside, connects to the crossover newtork (which is mounted ot the plate) and the wires to the drivers.

see if the problem moves, stays, or disappears.
