I want to start looking into transducers, can someone tell me what companies make them? I know that RBH does, but they don't have any prices listed on their web site.

Thanks

Oh, I would not want to spend more than 400.00 for 4 of them. Considering I will need a different amp other than my receiver to push them right?

What would I need power wise to push about 4 transducers? Any suggestions. I kinda like harman kardon. But would it really matter considering they don't produce sound. Well, let me restate that, the ones I felt didn't produce sound, just some sweet vibration.

This guy had 3 in front of this couch, then 3 in his couch. Yes, I said IN his couch. Somehow he managed to get them mounted in his couch without tearing it up. I was just insane.

I think you'll need quite a bit of power, but you don't need anything refined. some brute force will be enough. pro amps should be well suited to that type of job. as for the power need, you'll need to look at the manufacturer's requirements.

I don't think you'll need too much power, actually. I have the Aura Bass Shakers, and these ones came with their own amps. I bought 2 on clearance from Parts Express for $50 total. The amps are 25-watts. I don't know what the impedance is, but if you have a decent old 30-50 watt amp/receiver that can handle a 4ohm load, that might work. Hook 2 in parallel to each channel??

Yes, Seb, I am serious Smile.gif. There are two models of Aura - I have the "non-Pro" models, rated at 25 watts RMS max:

BTW, the Aura Pros are rated 50 watts RMS MAX, per the Aura manual - http://www.smarthome.com/manuals/8249p.pdf

m00n - I'd suggest reading the manuals on these two different models, which you can link to from the above URL. They talk about hooking them in parallel versus series. Turns out they are 4 ohms, so hooking in parallel will be a 2 ohm load on your amp/receiver -- probably too low. May need to go the series route.

The 25 watt amps provide all the shake I need in my couch. I have two screwed to the wooden frame. However, I don't use them anymore since I added the SVS subwoofer.

Also, it's your money, but before I put $600-1000+ into a transducer setup (a la The Buttkicker), I'd probably exchange the RSW-12 for a -15. You'll get more mileage out of that investment.
