garyd9
I am replacing the wiring to a K77M tweeter. I am concerned about the amount of heat required to remove the original soldered connection. I am thinking about rotating the K77M 180 degrees and using the opposite side of the lug to make the new connection. Will this work? Do I need to reverse the leads to maintain proper phase ? Thanks, Gary
Malcolm
You should not damage the tweeter by unsolder a lead if you use a little care. A 40 watt iron and a solder sucker should do the job just fine. Just don't apply heat for longer than necessary to melt and remove the solder. If you do rotate the tweeter 180 degrees, it will not affect the tweeter's phase. Do not reverse the leads. garyd9
Malcolm, thanks for the feedback. Forty watts and a little more courage did the trick. It was past my bedtime and I did not want to make a mistake. I am now enjoying the ALK crossover and rewire job. Gary
