boom3
We recently retired our Yamaha RX-V3800 and replaced it with a Pioneer VSX 53. Pioneer's embrace of Apple was one of the reasons we switched. We used the MCACC room measurement/EQ feature in auto mode. It sounds OK so far, but I want to explore its other capabilities.. My question: Is anyone aware of any comparison between the Yamaha YPAO and Pioneer MCACC measurement/EQ systems? Given that our Yammie was 4 years old, it does not have the latest version of YPAO, and the MCACC generates some impressive-looking graphs. The group delay graph for the center channel showed the "hump" of delay in the region where the K401 is active. Not surprising, but interesting to see documented. Quiet_Hollow
MCACC is doing siginificantly more than YPAO. MCACC can alter the phase response of the outbound signal to correct for driver time alignment issues to a certain extent. It also uses MLS analysis to crosscheck it's EQ and filter settings (similar to Audyssey) to insure it's not adding more error into the system's native transient response.
