Recone kit Chorus driver

Recommended Posts

Have a bad driver in my chorus 2. Lots of distortion on low notes. A new driver cost a fortune where I live(Norway) so I was thinking about reconing the driver. Have not found a K48E kit on web or ebay but I see there is a K48K recone set on ebay. Will that work, or do some of you know someone who sell kit for K48E

What is the type/cause of the noise?

Unless the cone has obvious damage, like a tear, it is an unlikely source of distortion.

On my Forte's one of the voice coils was dragging, and a new cone doesn't usually include the voice coil, at least not the cheaper recones. It was only slightly more for a new, better than original driver, but left me with a large bad woofer sitting on a shelf.
