Guest " "
in this screen shot of some vintage EV material we see the alinco T-35 with a frequency response of 2K to 19K. hard to believe, but the driver was also used in two way systems so the proof is in the pudding. Guest " "
here we have the ceramic t-35 with a frequency response of 3500hz to 16hz. but there's a long term power handling reference at 4000hz to 20khz. Most folks will tell you the ceramic version is really good for 4500hz to 16khz.
Guest " "
of course...it's hard to compare...different test standards are being referenced. the problem is the two measurements do not use the same standard. the older use a retma standard. the newer use pink noise at 1 meter. the older drivers when tested using the newer standard are reported to only go to 14khz the the t-35 and 12khz for the tw-35. So I'm not sure what a 19khz retma result really means. I think the important thing that can't be disputed is that the older drivers had a lower frequency response capability since they were successfully used in two way ssytems. the newer drivers can only be used in 3 and 4 way systems. In terms of where the new coils fit in to all of this....... if you look at it from a 3 and 4 way perspective....the new coils would be an upgrade. If you look at it from a two way perspective....the new coils would be a down grade.
ZAKO
John Warren did an article on the T35,,,Some only had an upper bandwidth only to 10K then took a nose dive,,The new versiond had to be completely revised to reach 15K..
Guest " "
Some only had an upper bandwidth only to 10K then took a nose dive, Yes....there are so many variants of the t-35......some had round cup magnets like the alinco k-77....some were round, but had flat top magnets resembling the T-350. What is interesting is that these older low frequency response achivers were used successfuly in 2 way system.......so my take is a lot of the ooh aaah about alinco T-35's has more to do with how well they perform on the lower end....than the higher end.
