Jay Registrar
I just bought a Pioneer SX580 fairly inexpensive. Yes I know it can't compare to your tube stuff but it is only for the garage. I hooked up a pair of La Scalas to it, and there is unbelievable humming noise, plus static when you adjust the volume. Not being a audio tech, I could use some help here. I'm really a Marantz fan, but the price was too good to pass up. Thanks for your help, Jay
mustang guy
The hum could be interference from fluorescent lights, a dimmer switch, or a ground problem. The noisy volume can be remedied by buying some Deoxit, and using it to clean the potentiometer.
LarryC
Also do the wiggle test -- wiggle the jacks on the back to see if one has a loose connection.
