Aussie Klipsch Lover
Just bought a set of the ProMedia 4.1's. The 5.1's aren't available in Australia and even these set me back nearly $700. Despite the price, I've got to say these speakers are absoloutely awesome and worth every buck spent!!! I work at a PC store and we have quite a few sets of speakers set up. These were the only ones that could get down REALLY low in the bass on the demo song we play for customers and really shake the whole store hard , the sub has so much power The quality of the satellite's is also superb. Hooked up to my SB Audigy: DVD's, gaming, music they rock for em all <---one happy customer
glennbarn
I'm glad to hear that you're happy with your unit. My PM 4.1 is one of the things I look forward to listening to at the end of each busy day !
Aussie Klipsch Lover
one thing I have noticed with my set is that @ low volumes the majority of the sound comes out of the front and rear right satellites but once i turn it up a bit the sound kicks in from all 4 speakers at equal volumes. is this intended or a problem
Aussie Klipsch Lover
well actually i think the problem is thru all volume ranges just more noticable at low volumes. I've fiddled around with the speaker balance control: at fully left balance the volume is noticably lower than at fully right balance. Bohemian_Rhapsody
This is a known problem with PM 4.1, but it is easily fixed. Just turn up the volume on your Promedias uptil lets say 9 or 10'o clock and use the software volume control. It should sound perfect even at low volumes after this adjustment. Aussie Klipsch Lover
So im gonna have to use the software volume control everytime I want to adjust the volume then? bah
Bohemian_Rhapsody
Well, this shouldn't be a big problem. The disbalance should at most be slight. Or maybe since you have just bought the system, u might get it replaced with one that is balanced.
Aussie Klipsch Lover
Yeh it is slight, but at night time when I can't play it too loud its noticable. Do all systems suffer from this problem?
Aussie Klipsch Lover
Got an email back from Amy at Klipsch, the speakers seem to be working perfectly now Rhapsedy you were close but not the exact solution quote: It is normal for the Promedias to be somewhat imbalanced at lower volumes. This is caused by a slight disparity in ohms for each potentiometer, which is very difficult to perfect. A way to counterbalance this is to lower your software volume on your computer, and compensate by turning up the volume control knob. The disparity is still there, but it is much less noticable at higher levels (10 ohms on one side vs. 20 on another is very noticable, compared to 410 ohms on one to 420 on another at higher volumes). alfie
Me too! I'm from Australia & I bought mine for about $640.00 a few months ago. A lot of money, but I love it. Look at the quality! How many years will they last for? Heaps. I've got a Sound Blaster Live value card at the moment, I'll be upgrading to an Audigy or Hercules Gametheatre XP soon.
