  1. do you have the "cooling" kit installed? if so, move the power brick for the fan away from the subwoofer speakers... it worked very well for me
  2. Hi, After 3 years of use, the wires on my Custom 3s finally gave up. I decided to get the wire replaced with that of my iPhone. The Customs are back to life but it seems there is no bass. It seems like only the tweeters are working. The overall volume also seems reduced. - Can different polarity between the two earplugs cause this? - Can the cable make such a big difference? Has anyone tried this before? Any tips?
  3. Hello everyone and thanks for the response. I logged in today to say that after a couple of weeks of usage, i finally "got it" the sound is completely different from what it was when i first got it. perhaps my ears and/or my ear canals have adjusted to the headphones. i will post a detailed impression soon. thanks again for the advice!
  4. Hi, Money spent: 450 USD (here in Norway) First Impressions: Doesnt sound any better than my previous earplugs worth 30 USD except for the sound insulation. I have tried all sizes of ear gels. With each increasing size, i get more bass and less treble but the same mids. None of the frequencies sound clean, let alone pleasing. Btw, I am using the Echo Audiofire 2 soundcard and have my iFi system playing beautiful tunes... am i doing something wrong here ?
  5. i combined my iFis with the Echo AudioFire 2 and I feel like i am sitting in the middle of a concert. i never thought MP3s could sound so nice! its simply too good to be true.
  6. Hi, I have been considering buying the Klipsch Image headphones and finally they have arrived in Norway but the price seems totally unjustified. It made sense when Klipsch Reps pointed to shipping costs and taxes etc for the ProMedias (which weigh much more than 10 grams) but it seems unlikely that these tiny headphones would incurr such a huge shipping cost... keeping in mind that China is closer to Norway than the US. Does Klipsch have any influence on setting the price for their own products internationally? If so, I think its worth looking into. But until then, I am keeping my money in my pocket.
  7. finally bought it! yes, it sounds fantastic... sounds just right... better bass management than ProMedias... highly recommended!
  8. i just read on the product page that the iFi is still in production for the European market
  9. Hi, I am about to buy a Klipsch iFi system here in Norway. I know that this system has been discontinued. I was wondering how long Klipsch would be offering after sales services for this product ? Bohemian Rhapsody
  10. update: gave the power supply board to an electronics expert... i m hoping to hear some good news. will let you know if anything positive comes out...
  11. hi there, bad news... my power supply is beyond repair according to the dealer ... though things seem bleek, i am still going to try and get it fixed somehow...
  12. thanks for the detailed tips. it does sound a bit too risky for a first timer. However, my system is at a service center right now and i plan to pick it up in a few days. I can ask the repair guy to give me the measurements if you can show me the locations on a pic maybe... that way you can be sure... and i can live to listen to the system again
  13. great! i'll be checking out the voltages in 2-3 days. just lemme know where to check it... sorry i m a noob when it comes to electronics.
  14. if the 230V version power supply would have the same (or half or double) specs as the 120V power supply then i might be able to help you.
  15. you could go for a step-up transformer...
  16. yup, the system choked but no worries, i will be getting it restored to factory specs for $35 in a couple of months :-D
  17. mine actually looks like this; http://eu.bosscom.dk/images/products/24052005115214T.jpg so I can plug it either way. However, there is a caution to check for proper polarity of the power cord in the manual, i guess it applies to the US version only. Here in Europe, I can connect the power cord either way and it works fine.
  18. dunno but i wouldnt recommend taking a chance on that.
  19. hmm, i m not sure if i understood what you said. Which connection are you taking about ? I cant see anything that goes from square to oval *-) A quick email to Amy will definately solve your problem. She is the forum administrator and she always helps you out with such stuff. amy.unger@klipsch.com good luck!
  20. since Klipsch doesnt offer repair services for the 4.1s anymore you can probably get it checked out at a local electronics store.
  21. well, I have a 230V GMX A-2.1 and the fuse says 2.5A L250V.
  22. Does it specify any fuse type on the back of the sub where you insert it ?
  23. Hi, I have the same problem here in Sweden. The repairs are costing me almost the same and I cant get around to justify the price. I believe I too blew my power supply as the system became weak before it blew. The amp was clipping at relatively low volumes and then one fine day, the system just died following a faint pop. After taking a look inside the amp, I cannot see anything burnt except for R25 which seems half burnt. Can you take a look and help me with the resistor values for it ? :-D Its right on top of the power supply. Here is a pic. /Emaad Rafi
