Hello,

I just bought a pair of Klipsch Heresy Series I HBR speakers.

What amp should I consider driving these speakers?

ALREADY IN MY LIVING ROOM:

Tubes:

Bottlehead Stereomour 2a3

Transistors:

NAD 3120

Two Quad 303 ( monoblocks ) with Quad 44

ON ORDER:

Tubes:  Don Garber integrated Fi X 2a3 integrated

CONSIDERING:

Clones 25i  ( chip-amp based on 47labs gaincard )

Trends TA10.2 ( class-T amp )  will by only a single unit - integrated - maybe driven on batteries.

PS:

considering doing this tweak on my HBR speakers ( already bought the parts for this tweak )

UPDATE:

I probably have a pair of Heresy series 1.5 HBR.  As I understand it ; this means that the tweak on the crossover is not necessary for me. + now calling all early Heresy speaker owners regarding amp matching!!

All inputs / help will be appreciated!

1.5 was a term I coined regarding Klipsch's manufacturing 'oddities' in between major runs of speakers, for whatever reasons. CW 1 with K52/K601 for instance.  Normal CW would have a K55 midrange driver, CWII used the K52. In order to accomodate the different driver, a snoot had to be affixed to the driver so it would thread to the horn, and crossover modifications were made.

Modifications made by others outside the factory, in my opinion, do not fit the .5 nomenclature.

More can be found on this in Groomlakearea51's exhaustive writings.
