I have a set of Klipsch Quintet IV speakers and a SUB-10 hooked up to a Sony STRDH520 7.1 Channel Receiver. The specs on the receiver say it's 100w per channel @ 8ohms and the Quintet IV says 50w Satellite and 75w Center @ 8 ohms. It sounds good, but I'm only using by 7.1 Receiver as a 5.1 anyhow, and my initial receiver selection was pretty random, to say the least. I guess I'm just wondering how huge of an impact the receiver has on the overall sound. Am I short-changing myself by not going with a different receiver like Onkyo, Denon or Harmon Kardon for example? How large of a difference is noticed in the sound quality when switching receivers?
