themrgoodbar
Hey guys, I'll be moving into a new house soon and looking to set up a nice surround system with my TV. I've currently got two RP-280F towers up front and a RP-450C center channel, and I have the klipsch RP-140sa speakers sitting on top of the front towers. I have an old subwoofer and don't really need advice in regards to upgrading that. Questions are as follows: I'd like to replace my current awful surrounds with nicer Klipsch models. I wasn't sure which (side) surrounds are best for atmos? I've heard dipoles aren't great for atmos because the directionality isn't good for atmos calibration? Is that true in your experience? If I go for a 7.1.2 configuration, should I just do bookshelf speakers for the Surrounds and Surround backs, or should I go with dipoles? I also am not sure yet how I'm going to set up the surrounds (wall-mount vs stand) due to awkward room layout (an L-Shape), but the surround backs should be no problem. Any suggestions here? I think the RP-600s are not wall-mountable, but perhaps the reference series bookshelf speakers would be.
themrgoodbar
Does anyone have an opinion about dipoles vs direct firing for atmos surround?
