mutant
I own an N.E.W. A-20.1 20 watt per channel SS amp,it's a single-ended "pure" class-A design that has a surprisingly stable and gutsy power flow, with a sweet and euphonic sound overall. To those of you familiar with the needs of the Heresy II,would an amp like this be desirable?
mobile homeless
I have always wanted to hear this little amp; I had the Class A Monarchy Audio SM-70 here for a while and thought it did nicely for SS via my vintage CW and a tube preamp. If I were you, I would opt for the tube pre as well. You know, if going solid state, this appears to be a nice option to have. I say you're set if opting for the SS camp. kh ps- Nice name - you get points for that alone
arco
The NEW a-20 is a sweet little amp which, unlike the SM-70, is no longer made. Another nice low power (18W/ch) class A design which can also be bought in kit form, is the A-18 by Hawk Audio (www.audio.nl). You can find a test with listening impressions by visiting: http://www.tnt-audio.com/ampli/hawk_a18_e.html
