jpcregan
I picked up a pair of Forte Is yesterday for $600 - I've always wanted to try some out. 1. They're definitely as advertised - that midrange horn is VERY pronounced. I heard there's some modification that can be made to maybe balance that out a little, was wondering if that's true, or if I should just focus on correcting via placement and the eq on my receiver? 2. These Fortes were painted black, but I noticed the original walnut finish is under the paint. I am NOT handy, but is there a way of getting it down to the original finish? I read something about steel wool and doing something called an "oil wax" - but I have NO IDEA WHAT I AM DOING when it comes to that kind of operation...
