gradysanford
What I was looking for, exactly. I recently purchased a set of these for $70 "open box," and I intend to use them for many years to come. We'll see what happens! If necessary, I might have to get out my Weller soldering iron. basketbros Edited July 15, 2022 by gradysanford
jkwkapproved
Hey, Jeff! Can you hook a guy up with your attachment? It keeps telling me it's unavailable. I might just be an idiot, however. 🤷♂️

jaydoc79
I have the same issues that you described - sub seems to output audio, both satellites are dead. Removed the sub’s back plate and took a pic. One more here. Any idea what’s wrong with my unit? And is it “fixable”? Thanks
JeffC
Repair summary is: Replace C22 on the circuit board with a new 50V 22uF capacitor. I fixed 2 sets with the same problem. Edited June 7, 2023 by JeffC

I fixed 2 sets with the same problem. Hi JeffC, thanks for sharing, it's a big effort to investigate and create the document explaining in detail. I measured the MUTE Vs and I get 19.98v, I tested the C22 capacitor without removing it and it was not in short circuit, once removed it had 10.42 uF only. After replacing it my speakers are back to life. Edited July 3, 2023 by LuisG Repair completed
Razam
Thank you for sharing this JeffC. I have one to repair but it was worked on previously. R48 and R12 are burnt. Can anyone share the values with me please? R12 looks like a 2R2 and R48 looks like 10R0, one of the large caps was replaced with a 6800uF... seems like a lower capacitance. A clear picture of the amplifier board would be excellent.

DeeJay
Question- I have the newer style where the transformer is mounted in the box. Same issue any luck fixing these?
fast240z
JeffC you're the man!!! My klipsch 2.1 bt satellites stopped working and it was a bad capacitor on C22, just like you documented! Thank you so much for your work!
Carlroll
Big shoutout to JeffC, found this thread after searching trying to find a solution to why the speakers stopped working with sub ok. Replaced c22 capacitor as recommended, but now I have the opposite problem: L and R speakers working but no bass from the sub. Everything plugged in, but almost looks burnt on the circuit board in r30 and g1. Not sure if this is the issue or even fixable since it’s the board and not a wire or capacitor. Anyone else with sub issue after replacing c22 for speakers?

Wayne L
Another happy camper.... My ProMedia 2.1 (non-BT) speakers stopped working some time ago. I was about to look for replacements then thought that I should check for a solution online. (I despise throwing out electronics) After coming across this thread yesterday, I ordered some 50V 22uF capacitors from Amazon. They arrived late this afternoon so I pulled the circuit board and tried out my soldering skills, hoping that I wasn't doing more harm than good. It worked as prescribed. Now I've got the sub on a power bar with a switch so I can turn the set off while not in use. Hopefully I'll get a few more years out of the "system". Thanks JeffC! YOU ROCK!!! Joe Z
I repaired mine by replacing the C22 with TWO parallel 50V 22uF capacitors. One didn't work. What is the rationale behind?

Klipsch Promedia 2.1 BT Amplifier Repair.pdf 1.81 MB · 177 downloads I had the same issue with the stereo not working so I just used a spare cheap amp and splitter I had laying around to use it as a dedicated subwoofer. But now not even the subwoofer is working. I'll start with the 50v 22uF capacitor on C22 but do you have any thoughts on what caused the sub to stop working as well? I still get the power LED but no sound and the back is cold to the touch. Maybe I'll just replace all of the capacitors. Laserman88
a lot of people are having this problem with the C22 on the circuit board 50V 22uF capacitor. does anyone else think klipsch should repair the board for free? i can understand them not wanting to pay for shipping the sub, but it is easy to remove a board. why should all their customers have to learn to solder?
