Thoriated_Tiger
I usually set toe-in by listening to a mono recording, with the speakears severely toed-in. Then I will start to toe 'em out until the image 'fuzzes out', at which point I toe 'em back in a touch. This leaves me in a position where I can almost see straight down the horn's throat. Would the SF's image a little better (they are almost holographic right now..) if I toed 'em in so I stare straight down the horns? They're so smoooth on the treble I don't think being on-axis will hurt anything
Colin
While cone drivers sound best pointed directly ahead, or close to it, horns will image incredibly well when pointed directly at your ears, or the back of your head. Some cone loudspeakers sound better with a tight equilateral triangle (one cant sleep through high school and become a tweaking audiophile), but horns are better with a listening spot that is 150% of the distance between the two loudspeakers. So you are on the right track, keep on chugging.
