Klipsch Groove delay from aux input

I'm trying to use the Groove with portable music gear like the Roland S-1 synthesizer, via the aux input. There's a pause of about a second before the Groove wakes up and plays audio, which is okay if I'm playing something continuously but not for discontinuous input -- the speaker misses the first few notes from the device. This happens regardless of whether the Groove is on battery power or is plugged in. I don't have this issue with other (non-battery powered) speakers including the Klipsch The One II.

Has anyone encountered this and found a fix? I know this isn't the main use case for the Groove, but was hoping it'd work as a handy portable setup.
